This is one of
the 10 bunnies who were found in the Salinas Shelter Night
Drop! Fortunately an employee of the shelter arrived at work
Monday Dec 12, 2011 and noticed some movement on the side of
the building. Since the night drop was not officially
opened, she was surprised to find that somebody had placed
them inside sometime over the weekend, They were left with
no food, hay, water or litter boxes and no one knows for
sure how long they were there. They gathered them up, brought
them inside and gave them comfortable cages. They then
immediately called Rescue rabbits Rock. We raced out to help
separate and evaluate their conditions, we arranged spays
for all of the girls. All were filthy and most of the girls
were all pregnant. Avian Exotic Clinic was kind enough to
clean and care for them. After a general exam they were all
found to be in good health. 5 are available for adoption
/fostering ASAP and 5 are still at the shelter awaiting
homes. They are proving to be friendly sweet bunnies and we
will make sure that they find the best homes ever! She was
spayed 12/16/2011. She is approx 3 to 4 months old and
weighs about 2 pounds and is beautiful, soft and sweet but
has never known love.

Is a neutered Gray/Wht male REX
approx. 1.5yrs young. Recent owner saved him
from a pet store where someone surrendered him because the owner
had health
issues & could not care for him anymore. He is a happy bunny &
LOVES to
Binky. He accepts cats & has a nickname "HOUDINI" because he can
escape from anywhere!
This beautiful SINGLE bunny is
looking for a new home because their
mom got orders to Germany. Please consider helping our Military
by giving this boy a nice safe home!
They unfortunately have a “free spirit” attitude & prefer to
be left on their own as many bunnies like. They are used to
have free roaming access throughout the house. They are
extremely playful & NICE, they just don’t love being held
for long. BLACKBERRY does need to be gently combed at least
once a week and she is very calm & cooperative. She loves to
BINKY & race about uncontrollably!
JERZEE is the more elusive boy who is quite independent.
Neither is mean in any sense, but not for the family looking
for cuddlers! Both are neutered/spayed & must stay together.
Jerzee came from a breeder/hoarder in Sacramento & is
approx. 1 yr as of 2/2011. BLACKBERRY is an owner surrender
who bought her at Hacienda Hay & Feed in Carmel Valley in
2010. Age unknown (guess = 1-2 yrs).
HI!
My name is DOODLEBUG & I was left on a wide open sand dune
in Marina CA w/74 others. No trees, houses, bushes, food or
water anywhere near to be had. We were litterally sitting
prey. THANKFULLY Monterey County Animal Services raced out &
caught us. I had a bite on my butt they cleaned & gave meds
to help, I am healing. Now I need a SAFE home & LOVING
human. I will sit on ur lap for hours. I am a cuddle bun
that is grateful & happy to be safe at last - IF you want me
or one (2) of my friends, CALL
This beautiful "Siamese"
looking lady came into the Salinas Shelter as a
surrender on Oct. 5th 2011. She was spayed at Avian
Exotic Clinic on 10/19/11. Now that she has had her
whole life flipped upside down & a surgical procedure,
she is forgiving us humans & becoming a friendly lady
again. Bunnies do not like change so she is adjusting as
well as can be expected. She is a clean easy to care for
adult, not too fussy and just wants to settle down in a
cozy home. She does not bite, chew, destroy or require a
whole lot of anything ! She loves her Timothy hay mixed
w/a pinch of Oat Hay. She is looking for a quieter style
family who will give her the patience she needs before
she truly trusts again. Unfortunately her previous
family betrayed her & who can blame her for resisting
attention. She is currently in a TLC foster home being
smothered with love and is responding magnificently.
This beautiful young fella came to
us w/ his counterpart, SINBAD. They both were scheduled for a
trip to the death chamber & we had to rescue them = many, many
calls & emails and approx. 10 volunteers involved, we managed to
save them, get them neutered, transported & into foster so they
could RELAX. Both are adjusting extremely well. SEINFIELD wasn’t happy at the
shelter & decided to nip the person reaching into HIS space. We
were told of this behavior, but so far in our care, he has been
minding his manners. Maybe because he doesn’t feel threatened
anymore. But he would NOT be a great candidate for a family with
children. All he needs is some happy times in a safe environment
& he will bloom like most every bunny will given the
opportunity. IF you have a little patience & a huge heart, this
fella is ideal ! He will be forever grateful. He was neutered at
Sacramento SPCA on Aug 27th 2011 when he was approx.
6mos old.
This amazing fella
survived the recent Pet
store fire up in Santa
Cruz. Many other small
creatures perished and
it was a very sad day
for all. The owner
rushed ASHTON down to
Avian on Nov. 19th 2011
where he spent 2 weeks
getting love, expertise
medical care and lots of
attention. He is a
friendly
happy Mini-Holland Lop
boy, neutered Dec 2,
2011. Maybe he doesn't
realize what really
happened, but we are
extremely grateful he
was surrendered to
RESCUE RABBITS ROCK on
Dec 2, 2011. We do not
know his age but he
plays like a young guy
experiencing freedom for
the 1st time!
Arrived 6/9/2011. He came from a 3 acre
residence in Contra Costa County where there
were several bunnies
left outside free to breed before the owner
noticed they had quite a problem. Within 2
months she had over 30 baby rabbits before she
decided to ask for help. A fabulous rescue group
from CC is trying to solve the problem and we
are helping by trying to take in as many babies
as possible. These babies are 6 weeks old and all
boys. Many of these babies have a unique quirk.
One of their ear tips bend. They apparently have
lops in bloodline, they me be lops, flops or
have airplane ears. Whatever they are they are
adorably cute and unique. Bam Bam was neutered
at Avian on 8/8/2011. Bam Bam is last of these bunnies and
needs a home. All his siblings have been
adopted.
We are almost identical twins yet we
were not born in the same litter! We are like clones and ask to
never ever be separated. We are approx. 2 yrs old now and are
looking for a family to adopt us. We were in a fabulous home for
a long time where they fed us delicious OXBOW Timothy hay (our
FAVORITE) and they took real good care of us but they were
forced to downsize & move into a smaller home. We ended up back
in the RESCUE RABBITS ROCK foster home where we started & really
love it here too. But it is their job to find us the perfect
family. We are extremely simple & easy to care for. We love to
let loose twice a day to get our legs in shape (we do binkies
all the time!). Then we are happy to go back to our pen for a
nice afternoon nap. We are tiny but full grown, sweet & quiet.
We are used to dogs & cats but don’t LOVE them while we are out
romping. Our foster mom, Lisa, says you can call her anytime to
adopt us. We can’t wait to meet you! Love, Rasberry & Sweetpea”

Hammie and mom,
RHONDA, came into our care
from a group of bunnies rescued
from the beach dumping under the
San Mateo bridge in May, 2011.
He was born right after Rhonda was
rescued then came to us when he
was 8 weeks old on APRIL 25th.
He was adopted with his brother
Coconut 2 months ago, but as
brothers occasionally will do,
they started squabbling so the
owner decided to surrender them.
The next day Coconut was
re-adopted with a lady friend.
Now Hammie is single guy, ready
to move on. He
was neutered in June and is
ready to be fostered or adopted.
He is extremely full of energy
and loves activity so he wants
to be the center of attention
wherever he goes!
TOOTS is a special girl we
helped rescue from the Salinas City shelter on Sept 7th
2011. Everyone who saw her & even the vet believed she was
pregnant so we rushed her in for a spay surgery that same
day. Ends up she was NOT pregnant, just major obese! So the
vet did a tad of Liposuction as well as a spay & she is now
a happy go lucky slimmed down lady! She is very sweet but
still “on guard” due to her recent shelter life, surgery &
new foster home. Her whole world has been turned upside
down. Still, she is friendly & likes to be held & in no time
will adjust once again to a new home. She deserves a family
who will feed her properly & give her playtime for necessary
exercise. She’s definitely not a young juvenile but age
unknown. Will make a great house pet!

This cute fella is the brother of
LEAPING LIZZARD, both are quite the jumpers, leapers, high
energy entertaining juvenille boys. Loads of energy so adopters
beware for the value of laughter they will bring! Both love
exploring endlessly and actually over due themselves not
realizing how exhausted they are. They need to be placed back in
the pens for a long nap! They do require 3-4 "play sessions"
daily. Not the best choice for very young kids as they are not
calm snugglers. But they do enjoy being held AFTER playtime.
Both are very clean, happy, fearless young fellas. He would love
to be bonded w/a spayed female! Approx. 3 mos. as of Oct 2011.

This petite beauty is as precious as
can be! She too came in the group of 11 from the Cottonwood dump
in Salinas. Unfortunately we we so packed w/the babies, we had
to leave her at the shelter longer than we like. But now she is
out & about & BLOOMING fast. She never lost her trust in humans
and we want her to never be put in danger again. She was spayed
at Avian on Nov. 16th 2011 and is approx. 6 mos
young. She is eager to see people, eager to be fed, and eager to
play! She likes to be held, never kicks or grunts. She is

mostly remain petite in size, but has a large personality!

This
unusual beautiful all alone girl found herself lost, hopping near a
street, when a bunny savvy lady noticed her. This
wonderful lady called her friend & together caught this small gentle
bunny and took her home, set her up & kept her safe.
Luckily
these ladies work at AVIAN EXOTIC CLINIC, so they took her in & the
Drs. Checked her out. AFRP was notified & we decided to have her
spayed on 7/13/2011. She is now resting in our foster care program & is available
for adoption or fostering. She is young, approx 3-9 mos old and
SWEET! Longs to be loved, pet, held and kept safe! She is remarkably
calm for being left to fend for herself outside in the wild. She was

w/airplane ears. She was adopted, but not as happy
as she could have been so the family traded her in.
I’ve been giving her xtra love & attention & she
seems to be a very happy young girl just wanting a
new family to pamper her. She is beautiful dark
brown/wht with Bambi eyes. She’s learning to accept
cats as her friends but wouldn’t mind hookin’ up w/a
neutered male bun friend!
I'm a super
LUCKY lady ready for a new life. I was being featured in an ad for
being dinner instead of a pet! So here I am, grateful, friendly &
spoiled - willing to be a best friend to someone who will adore me
forever. I am the smallest of my sisters so I may not be as big when
I grow up. I'm only 12 weeks old (as of May 1st, 2011) I was spayed
at Avian in Sept, 2011. I am available for adoption today! PLEASE consider me - I need a home to call my own,
where I can express my frilly personality & promise to entertain
you!
BUSTER came to us
unfortunately because his human owner was arrested & her
pets were left in the care of AFRP. We neutered this
friendly guy in Sept, 2011 & he wants nothing more than a happy steady
home w/plenty of endless love. He is harness trained as
well as immaculate w/his litter box manners. He’s got
the most unusual eyes, ½ blue, ½ dark. He is a brn/wht
Dutch dwarf, full grown weighing approx. 3 pds. He loves
people, dogs, cats & kids ! Call to meet him anytime. He
used to have a bunny friend so a spayed female would
make his dreams come true!
My name is PUKA, after the Puka shells in Hawaii. My colors are similar & my blue eyes make me even more decorated.
I was brought into the Monterey County shelter in Oct and it took awhile but the AFRP Rescue Rabbits Rock people finally arranged my neuter & picked me up the day after on Nov. 16th, 2011. They were amazed how cuddly I am and BEAUTIFUL as a bunny can be. I am gunna hang out in a foster home, being pampered & catered to until someone falls in LOVE with me. I hope to have a long happy hoppy life soon as I am only approx.. 7 mos old ! I am so grateful to be safe and out of the shelter but I do need a family quick so all my other friends can be saved! PLEASE ADOPT ME ???
I am a small black
dwarf boy with tiny ears. I come from the
Salinas City shelter where AFRP found me and
took me into their loving program on 11/15/11.
They scheduled my neuter the very next day. I am
only about 4 months old, still young but won’t
grow too much more. I weigh a whole 2.8 pds !!!
I come with NO FEAR or ISSUES so who knows WHY I
was in the shelter. MUNCHKIN is a rare find as
Dwarfs usually are a tad skiddish – this guy
adores attention anytime from anyone or thing!
He tolerates young children excellently and is
gentle as can be. He’s a happy litl’ fella but
longs for a permanent home (actually I don’t
think he cares where he is !). He’s just the
ideal house pet if you want an instant
companion.
This friendly handsome guy
is looking for a new home/family (his humans are
moving). We offered to post him here so everyone can see
how beautiful & cute he is w/his one floppy ear. He’s
super friendly, soft & spoiled, litter trained,
tolerates the harness & likes a couple hours in a bunny
secure garden. He is used a large lazy dog but not cats.
He’d probably do well w/older kids who are quiet &
gentle. We are arranging for him to be neutered so if
someone needs a boyfriend for a lonely spayed girl,
he’ll be ready. WINSTON has been w/his human family for
5 years they found him hopping down the street. We are
guessing he is approx. 5-6 yrs young (bunnies can live
8-12 yrs, even 15yrs!) so he is over the “baby” stage &
in the ideal house pet era of his life. He still loves
to run & binky. There is a $50.00 adoption fee to cover
the neuter surgery fee.

This incredible
lovely sweet bunny is amazing to find in a
shelter whose time to be euthanized was
scheduled at 5pm the day we saved her! She
gave birth to 6 itty bitty babies 3 days
after being surrendered. She took care of
every single one ensuring their survival
(many momma bunnies will kill their babies
in a shelter situation). Then to endure a 6
hour drive down to our rescue program & to
actually start licking our hands when we
reached in to set up a new clean warm nest
box, well, our hearts simply melted! She is
a petite gentle loving bunny, for an indoor
home ONLY & will be adopted out to the one
who melts like we did. She is still nursing
until Sept 21 and will be spayed 6 weeks
after that (approx Nov 2011). She appears to
be young, 1 yr ?? RESERVE her TODAY !
This family of
3 girls & 3 boys were born on JULY 27, 2011
at the Sacramento County Shelter days after
the Mom, MAYA, was surrendered by a private
owner. They were slated to be euthanized
immediately due to the shelters rules &
because they were overcrowded. We had to
scramble quickly to rescue them, but thanks
to many volunteers, they were picked up &
delivered down to us in Monterey when they
were a mere 3 days old. We quickly got them
settled & cozy. MAYA did her job as an
excellent mom = ALL survived! They're all
being handled constantly in an awesome
foster home until they're the sweet age of 8
weeks (9/21/2011) when they will be ready to
take home. RESERVE TODAY ! (831) 883-1734
This larger lady came into the Salinas City shelter at the end of Sept 2011. The county spayed her Oct 11, 2011. We just took her into our program in mid Nov. so she is learning that life outside the shelter is really cool! She gets plenty of playtime & LOVES her fresh produce as well as a few raisins for returning to her pen as a reward. She is very sweet, happy, easy to keep and CLEAN as ever! She is available for adoption by calling Lisa anytime. Age unknown but our guess = approx. 1yr. She is definitely an easy to keep house pet who would LOVE some garden playtime so she can get her toes dirty !
Yolo is a little baby New Zealand boy who was slated for
euthanasia in a N. Calif shelter. He was part 3
bunnies at the shelter. Rescue groups were
scrambling to rescue them but the shelter went
ahead and euthanized the female. We then knew he
was in grave danger so we rushed to save him. So
far in his short time with us it is apparent
that he is an incredibly sweet people lover. He
is the softest cotton ball who just sits in your
arms absorbing any love and affection. So if
you are looking for a cozy cuddler baby boy,
this is your guy. he will be neutered in the
next couple of weeks.
This sweetheart little baby boy
(currently known as ESAU) is from the COTTONWOOD Dump rescue
in Salinas & was on the KION news! He's a famous boy, also
featured on The RABBIT HAVEN’s site due to his ear injury.
His mom most likely caused the injury but he is healed &
ready to romp! He's been examined by 2 vets & neutered on
Oct 19th, 2011 at approx. 3 mos. old. He loves sleeping in
his hammock so that is a mandatory requirement if he becomes
your family friend! He wants, needs, deserves 100%
unconditional love & pampering. He LOVES to binky & be held,
gives little nose kisses & is very special to our program.

This unusual, spectacular female REX came
from a closed down breeding situation up in
Humboldt County. She is one of the most
unique looking rabbits we’ve ever seen! She
was spayed at Avian clinic on July 7th, 2011.
We believe she is under 1 year old & is a
tad timid due to the changes she’s endured.
She needs someone to work with her & bring
out her true personality! She is velvety
soft & likes to be held, but needs to learn
that she is allowed to play now - since she
was raised in a small breeder cage
L
she doesn’t know what free time out is all
about.
This
handsome neutered boy has NEVER had a chance to be a bunny! He was
born at our Monterey SPCA over a year ago & has lived in a cage all
his life. The SPCA contacted us recently & asked if maybe we could
take him & help find him a home. He DESERVES it! Many people don’t
even look at the beauty of an all-black bunny. Their silky fur
shimmers & their personalities shine! This guy is amazing! We
brought him to our home on MAY 10th, 2011 & in this short
time, his personality is already blooming! He is a tad shy having so
much free time to explore, he’s simply learning what freedom is for
the first time & it’s so rewarding to watch. We need your help if
possible, to either adopt or foster this sweet guy – his life is
only going to get better day by day! It’s incredibly rewarding to
watch & know YOU helped it happen!
TRIXIE is a
little action filled beautiful girl who was found happily hopping
around in someone’s back yard. Lucky for her, a bunny savvy family
caught her & noticed some “weird” stuff on her ears. They
immediately took her to the SPCA & they found they were covered
w/ticks! They cleaned her up, spayed her & now she is ready to find
a family worthy of her beauty! She is young, has spunk & is not shy
at all! Just needs to settle into a safe routine & she will be an
incredible best friend to some lucky family! She is microchipped.
BANJO & RUFFLES
both came from different shelters at different times. They sniffed each
other out and bonded themselves.
RUFFLES
This sweet
but timid girl was surrendered to the Monterey County Shelter in mid
July (along w/a possible gray boyfriend).
Being a
girl & high risk of being pregnant, AFRP scooped her up & had her
spayed on July 15th, 2011 to prevent any unwanted
litters. She is now settling into a routine to help her feel safe.
She is a beautiful soft gray with a golden tan lining around her
ears, paws & belly. She is full grown & not very big at all. We
prefer a quiet home, adults only, indoors only. Maybe she can be
adopted w/her friend she was surrendered with ? She is estimated to
be 8 mos old
BANJO
I am Banjo and I arrived at the
AFRP from the Sacramento SPCA on
8 June, 2011 where I was brought
into the shelter as an Elk Grove
stray. I am sweet gentle and
calm. I love to have my forehead
petted and I really love my
outdoor playtime. I am the
perfect blend of curious, cuddly
and everything sweet.
A plea email went out to all the rabbit
Rescue groups = AFRP RABBIT RESCUE
claimed me & off I went on a long car
ride to Monterey. It's beautiful here &
I know my future family is out there!
Maybe I can be adopted w/a bunny friend
so when everyone’s at work or too busy,
I'll have a friend to play with &
snuggle next to. I'm still very young,
approx 2 months young as of July 7th,
2011. I was neutered 7/19/2011. I'm just
a sweet guy lookin' for some love & a
forever home that will keep me safe,
feed me well & adore me daily. Serious
bunny lovers only !!!
GWENDOLYN This is one of the friendliest rabbits we’ve
ever had! We are so lucky to have her in our Program but we do need to
find her that special family. She is a 2yr old spayed female (AVIAN
8/30/11) who is as close to a puppy dog as can be. She comes when you
call her, she plays ball and LOVES small children. She simply wants
people playing w/her all the time! She is the perfect house pet and is
litter trained & allows you to hold her endlessly. We guarantee you’ll
fall in love within 24hrs! However, she is NOT a toy, we want GWENDOLYN
to live a long happy healthy life. She will need a yearly exam, endless
Timothy Hay & fresh produce. MUST be willing to LOVE her
unconditionally!
This tubby mushy lady is a local
girl approx 2yrs young & was found as a stray in Salinas. She
ended up in the shelter luckily & AFRP snatched her up to help
her get a new chance of living a good safe long life! She was spayed on AUG 24th at AVIAN CLINIC. She's the kinda bunny you can
snuggle with and then let her hop about to explore her area. She
is sweet, getting cleaner (85% potty trained) but this is normal
considering her past in the shelter then moved to foster, in
another week or 2, she should be 100% !! She has the magical ruby eyes that
make these BIG WHITE RABBITS the best cuddlers of all breeds!
GEORGIA HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESCUE
JUNO female "runt" of
litter. One of AFRP's 4 newest
babies: rescue call from SAC SPCA we had to answer! JUNO is amazingly a people
person, she sits there waiting to be held & pet, endlessly! She's 1/2 the size of the others !!
This young muffin bunny SINBAD is quite the
character! Extremely lively, ready to roar, binky, explore, pounce,
leap, slide, bounce, flop etc etc. ANY thing but stay still ! He does
like being held AFTER he’s had a good exercise session. He’s definitely
a man of action-filled entertainment for the person who likes to laugh.
He’s our “how to be Happy” therapy bunny !! He’s calming down a little
bit now that he’s neutered (at Sac SPCA on Aug 27th, 2011)
but he’s still a teenager who was dumped in a shelter (YOLO), locked up
for weeks & scheduled to go to their death chamber on Aug.27th. It was
quite a feat to rescue him (and SIENFIELD) but we, at RESCUE RABBITS
ROCK, pulled it off w/the awesome help of a volunteer at the Sacramento
SPCA. Here they are now happily being fostered & loved until their new
family finds either irresistible! Both are approx. 3 mos young.
AFRP was happy to help out this
beautiful girl from the Salinas shelter. She has all the
characteristics of being a breeder bunny who was raised in a
cage with no free play time. She is a tad grumpy if you startle
her when reaching into her pen. We call this "cage aggression"
which simply means they don't like being yanked out of a shelter
cage! They do get over this behavior within days once they are
set in a correct set up. She's happy to hop quickly about the
house, loves to binky and is as litter box trained as can be!
She was recently spayed at AVIAN on July 11, 2011. She's just as
beautiful as they come & is full grown. She prefers an indoor
only home to ensure her safety from scary elements.
CRACKERS came into our Monterey County
shelter beat up. A friend of his didn't make it :( We need to find him a
beautiful relaxing family to help him heal. He will recover from his
bite wounds 100% but his feelings got hurt. He longs to feel loved &
safe. He is still young, approx 6-7 mos & already neutered. In the short
time w/us, he has bloomed! We only want the best of the best for this
sweet guy, he does adore attention & being held. Kids, dogs & cats must
be very mellow w/him. He is extremely clean & has learned the sound of a
baggy means an apple treat is coming so he comes to the cage to be fed.
He still has an injured hind toe that needs to heal, so he cannot be a
garden bunny, yet. He was neutered on 8/26/11 at Mty County Animal
services.
This gorgeous gem came into our Rescue
family by way of the Sacramento SPCA. They make really sweet bunnies
up there !! She came into their shelter as a lost/found stray & we
were there to scoop her up to safety! She is a sweet, loving,
holdable, friendly girl who needs nothing but attention, Fresh hay &
yummy healthy snacks. Loves her produce 2-3 times a day & at least 2
excerise playtimes. Extremely tidy but does tend to spill her water
dish – we solved that solution by providing a doggy sized ceramic
bowl ! She’s simply an easy going happy bunny who does love to do
the HAPPY DANCE! She was spayed at Avian on 9/8/2011. Her age is unknown, estimate 2 yrs ? Nice, sturdy, healthy,
sweetheart!
Elliot is AFRP's newest bunny!
He was bought from a breeder 3 yrs ago, is
neutered, friendly, approx 6-7pd. More info
to follow as we get to know him better.
This lucky baby
Rex came a long long
way, from the
backstreets of
LA where he was
being sold
illegally in an
alley. Some
attentive
compassion by
passer scooped
her up, brought
it home, bottle
fed it kitten
replacement milk
& fresh alfalfa
= she is now
blooming into a
happy healthy
beautiful bunny! JIA is now
approx 4 months
old (as of
August
1, 2011) and
will be spayed
on 8/25/2011.
She has been in
an awesome
foster home
being smothered
with love &
attention & is
very friendly
w/people & kids.
She is just
looking/waiting
for the perfect
family to
connect with,
who will worship
her & let her
run around as
she is a baby
with a boat load
of energy!
Available for
Fostering or
Adopting today!
This
brown ticked fur baby was dropped
off at Petsmart, Sand City by an
elderly man. AFRP Rabbit folks took
him in & spoiled him as usual. Turns
out he is a fantastic friendly
people bunny! Loves loves loves to
be held, demands attention & wants
food constantly. He leaped out of his
pen & bonded himself w/another pair
one night, much to our surprise! All
3 have been hanging out happily ever
since so we hope to find him a home
where he can have other bunny
friends. He is approx 3-4 months old as
of 6/24/11 and was neutered
at Avian on 8/23/2011. He is
clean, potty trained & easy as can
be. But you must have time for him
or he will suffer from loneliness &
that is NOT acceptable!
Hi! I
came up from Ventura county. I
arrived on July 28th, 2011. I am
delicate and lovely and have a
special beauty deep inside of me
that continues to unfold. I am a
knowing bunny. I am also a very
loving mini rex mix
GIRL longing to have my very own
home. I am a bit wary
having been abandoned recently
with many siblings. I am getting
past it. I found out that lots
of people love me and they let
me snuggle with them and give me
a soft blanket to sleep with . I
am happy living the way I am
now- I have soft flooring made
of fresh cotton material and
fluffy blankets to snuggle on
too. I have toys! I also
get greens and hays and I have
learned to use a food and water
dish and the
litter box! I am still a bit
confused about the litter box,
but I am getting it down - I am
tiny as you will see and I have
big ears. So I can hear you very
well. I have beautiful fur
colors. I would love a gentle
loving home to grow up in. I
promise to be a very good girl
if you are very sweet with me.
This
beautiful family trio came to us from the
Sacramento SPCA where they impounded 50 breeder
rabbits. The mom, Ling Ling, is a gorgeous
black, part Lion head. She is an amazing mom to
her two babies. she melts when you rub her head.
She is hysterically unique as she is pigeon toed
and one of her paws is part white. When we let
her out with her babies, she herds like a border
collie herds sheep.
Update: Ling Ling's babies were adopted
3/26/2011.
These 2 baby lops arrived into
AFRP care on July 24th, 2011 at the ripe old age of two
months. We took them into our care after the Sacramento SPCA
asked for our help when their shelter got overcrowded. They
were a surrender (previously owned) so they are completely
domesticated house pets & we request they stay that way. We
also prefer they be adopted as a team or be re-bonded
w/another singly w/a new friend. They are happy
well-adjusted siblings but do need a lot of people attention
to become better hold able bunnies. They are used to cats &
a little noise (TV's, vacuums etc.) but not small children.
They will need a touch of patience to fully relax, but are
ready to rumble. They love to race around the porch & BINKY
galore, explore and then slam down pancaked for a long nap!
Both will be spayed/neutered in Aug 2011.
ZAPPA was surrendered into
the Monterey County Shelter along with his girlfriend, Ruffles. The
shelter separated them and we quickly took the girl to
get spayed leaving ZAPPA
all alone. He is a solid little guy, friendly even through his shelter
ordeal. He was quickly put in a loving foster home where he has been
cuddled and treated with unconditional love. He would love to find a new
bunny friend to keep him company or a human who will spoil him
endlessly. He was neutered 7/15/2011 and is approximately 8 months old
as of this date. He has gorgeous blue eyes and is a Russian Blue! Sweet,
Clean, Lonely and wants a new home today!
This character was an
owner surrender who kept
him in a shed &
occasionally tossed him
some food "when she
remembered". We HAD to
save him !!! He is
currently re learning
how to be a fabulous
bunny, that hopping is
allowed & FUN! He kicks
abit when picked up but
has amazingly relaxed &
is trusting now, he
knows he is in a better
safe place! He's
completely potty box
trained & would love a
quieter home, not a lot
of running around chaos
or dogs. He's OK w/cats
& gentle people. He has
been kept indoors but
will eventually like a
garden once he's
adapted. He is 3-5 yrs
old & neutered.
I am a young
girl, approx. 1yr old as of May 2011, who’s ready to cause some ruckus
as I have a lot of energy! I am so grateful to the AFRP Rabbit Rescue
team who literally saved my life - I was recently spayed & sadly the vet
found 5 dead babies inside me. I would of died if they waited any
longer. So I have a special zest for life & my ideal dream now would be
to find a real nice bunny boyfriend & have access to a bunny proof yard
so we could endlessly frolic about. I do require an indoor pen to settle
in, to eat endless fresh hay & produce. It’s not real safe to lock us
rabbits out in hutches so if you can meet my requirements, I may
consider adopting you ! I am currently being spoiled in foster care but
look forward to moving into my very own home soon. I was brought into
the Salinas City shelter as a stray in April, 2011. I would LOVE to be a
garden bunny w/indoor quarters during the night.
Spencer came to us as a
surrender. He was originally adopted from the
Watsonville shelter along with his friend Winston
(formally known as Tracey). When the two started
bickering we reluctantly separated them. So he is now a
beautiful single boy who like cats, dogs and kids. He
wouldn't mind a bunny friend? He's approximately 3 to 4
years old, neutered, very clean, quiet and easy going.
He is a humans best friend, LOVES and craves attention,
gentle and extremely a holdable bunny.
Both of these male babies came from the
same rescue as Miss Magoo, in
Sacramento. It was a surrender hoarding
situation that the SPCA got flooded
w/all these beautiful bunnies all at
once. Both these boys still need to be
neutered soon and are being kept
separate in their foster home so they
can be adopted as singles. The owner
stated they are HIMALAYAN Mini Rexes and
are approx. 4 mos. Old as of June 1,
2011. Both are used to children & cats.
They have no traumatic past (luckily) so
all they really need is a safe, happy
home with people who want to cuddle
them. They are sweet and ready today to
find a home so they can binky & explore
happily ever after. Both are available
as INDOOR house pets ONLY and can be
adopted individually.
This lovely girl came to RESCUE
RABBITS ROCK (AN AFRP Program) via Sacramento SPCA where she was
scheduled to be euthanized! We try to save every rabbit in this
situation so we had our volunteers drive up to save her on
7/21/11. She is currently in a foster home waiting to be
adopted. She is approx. 1-2 yrs. and was spayed July 2011. She
does not LOVE being held for long but is a very entertaining
easy clean house bunny. She does not chew things, is litter box
trained happy to run about.
Arrived
6/9/2011 at 6 weeks of age. She came from a 3 acre residence in
Contra Costa County where she was left outside, they were free
to breed before the owner noticed they had quite a problem.
Within 2 months she had over 30 baby rabbits before she decided
to ask for help. A rescue group from CC is trying to solve the
problem and we're helping by taking as many babies as possible.
DITTO is 1 of 5 awesome babies who have a unique quirk. They
apparently have lops in bloodline, they maybe lops, flops or
have airplane ears. Whatever they are, they're adorably cute and
unique. She is the sister of our BAM BAM, who is also available
for adoption (he is already neutered). She will be ready for her
spay surgery approx Sept 2011 which we cover in the adoption
donation. She loves people, kids, cats & other pets. She was
recently bonded, then separated, so she longs for another bunny
friend !
Chi Chi is
a baby Giant Flemish. This
incredibly baby girl was rescued thanks to our attentive rabbit
rescue team who scours the ads online. She was being sold as being a
great "PAN FRYER", totally heartbreaking to us animal lovers. We
took her in along w/her 2 sisters in early April 2011. They were
estimated to be 8 weeks and we were told they would be LARGE when
full grown. They were breeder bunnies, but now friendly &
domesticated, ready for a safe fun house to romp about in. Loving
House pets only PLEASE. CHI CHI was spayed June 2, 2011 NEEDS FOSTER or
permanent home
This Exotic
dark beauty is the greatest leaper of all time. She knows no
boundaries when "she catches air". She is relentlessly trying to
climb to the highest perch so she can watch the world go by where
she will wait for you patiently to come scoop her up and set her
back down. She is a young lady
full of
endless energy, but enjoys her long afternoon siestas. She is eager to
be loved, adores her head massaged and is always ready to happily
greet you. She is still very young, approx. 3mos old & is expected
to grow into a spectacular large rabbit, the best kind to snuggle
with. We would like her to have bed & couch privileges & run of the
house. We hope she will
pull some heart strings for the family looking for a new best friend
so she will be well cared for forever. We expect owners to seek vet
care if she appears ill, and be allowed hours of run
around time, FRESH Tim/Oat hay, FRESH
green leafy Produce & a clean litter box daily. We only want the
very best for her!
She was
spayed at AVIAN EXOTIC Clinic on MAY 27th 2011
Hello humans! My name is
BONGO and I am ready to bounce into your hearts. If you are looking for
a best friend, I am your guy. I absolutely enjoy humans, dogs, cats and
kids! I will follow you around and come running when you call. (maybe I
was a dog in a previous life). If you are considering adopting me
please be prepared to meet my demands which are ... plenty of attention,
plenty of playtime, constant unconditional love and a safe indoor well
maintained space of my home. I am not an outdoor bunny. I have no issues
and will adapt to nearly any home environment. I am ideal for children.
I am a young neutered male. My exact age is unknown, but I am
approximately 1 to 3 years old.
These 2 baby lops arrived into
AFRP care on July 24th, 2011 at the ripe old age of two
months. We took them into our care after the Sacramento SPCA
asked for our help when their shelter got overcrowded. They

Both will be spayed/neutered in Aug 2011.
We received a 24 hour notice that
Sacramento County Animal Shelter would
begin euthanizing their rabbits, so AFRP
responded along with 5 other rescue groups
prevented all of them from being euthanized.
Hi! I'm
Cricket and I am a 4 pound fearless
ball of fur! I came into the
Sacramento Shelter on June 3, 2011
and was there till the AFRP Rescue
Rabbits Rock volunteers rescued me
on July 30! I was neutered at AVIAN
EXOTIC CLINIC on Aug 2, 2011. I am
approx 6 mos-1yr old & have the
silkiest sofest fur ever. I have no
past issues so I trust who ever
adopts me, will keep me safe so I
never know fear! AFRP received a 24
hour notice that Sacramento County
Animal Shelter would begin
euthanizing their rabbits, so we
helped organize, along with 5 other
rescue groups, their rescue &
prevented all of them from being
euthanized !
BOOMER is the oldest of the 3 AFRP rescued from death row
from the Modesto shelter. He was neutered at AVIAN Clinic on
4/6/11. He is fully grown & as handsome as can be. He has
some adorable chipmunk cheeks that sets him apart from many
other brown bunnies! He's a happy healthy 2-3 year old dude
who wants the basics in life: Hay, potty box, room to roam &
love! He would love some play time outside, supervised of
course but he is accustomed to having a large dog crate to
call his own. He is extremely clean & well behaved &
amazingly well adjusted to people & other house activities.
he will need a couple weeks (as ALL bunnies do) to adjust to
his new home & family.
COTTON is a beautiful
Californian bunny. She has
glistening white fur with
gorgeous MINK brown markings
on her ears, nose, tail and
feet. Her coloring is unique
and elegant. She's a
stunning girl! Shortly after
arriving at the shelter,
COTTON gave birth to a
litter of 7. She was an
excellent Mama, gentle and
loving. Unfortuately she was
attacked by a dog & one of
her babies was killed. The
rest have all found homes
and now it is her turn.
COTTON is a dignified
rabbit. She is a bit
hesitant until she gets to
know someone. We don't know
her history but suspect that
she was mistreated. She's a
sweet and splendid girl who
deserves a lovely home.
Probably about a year old,
she's 8 or 9 lbs. which is
typical for her breed.
Cotton enjoys affection and
is good around kids and
cats. An easy to care for
girl! This stunning bunny is
ready for a happily ever
after ending!
BOO
BOO was one of three bunnies rescued from a dangerous shelter up in Modesto where
they are not considered worth saving. One of our
volunteers scurried up there & took all 3 so none would be
euthanized. BOO BOO here has stolen our hearts. He has dog
bite battle wounds on his back, but longs to be
loved. This guy is too special! BOO BOO
was neutered at Avian on April 13, 2011, He is approx 9
months young. Boo Boo can only be adopted to a bunny savvy
family with no dogs cats or small children due to his
traumatic past. When he
was
a baby he was viciously attacked by a dog and has permanent
scars down his back, He is in no way disabled. However, he
has become conditioned to feel he needs to attack before he
is attacked. We have learned his behavior and can handle him
easily. We don't want anyone mistreating him or getting
hurt. We will keep him at our house for as long as it takes
or for the rest of his life. He is still an excellent indoor
house rabbit that is the only rabbit we have that loves to
sleep in his hammock.
Lillianna started out as a bunny sitting service. Her owner had to go to Brazil
for six months and Rabbit Rescue Rocks agreed to sit for her. When the
time came for her owner to pick her up, there were complications and
could no longer keep her. She was fostered to adopt by a family in Feb,
2011 but they had to return her. She is now back and available for foster or adoption.
This very young girl came to us through
a family surrender. They bought her at
Hacienda Hay & Feed in Carmel but she
had a tad bit too much energy for their
young children. She is a very sweet girl
who needs a home with a little patience
for her to settle into. She hasn’t been
kept in very clean or ideal conditions.
Since we took her in, she has settled
tremendously and loves romping around
the house. She is litter trained &
hungry! Just needs to be held & told her
life will be good. She loves kisses &
nose rubs. She is soon to be spayed soon
& we are estimating she may be approx. 3
mos. old. There is never a dull moment
w/this beautiful girl!
These lucky Babies, and mom,
RHONDA, are coming into our care
soon!
They are another group rescued
from the beach dumping under the
San Mateo bridge last month. One
of the females had babies
shortly after the rescue & have
been in a “Baby Foster” home
w/their mom getting pampered &
fed so they are healthy happy
well-handled babies. They will
be arriving approx.. APRIL 25th
and need to be separated into
female/male groups (all are boys
except mom & 1 baby girl) We
NEED foster/adoptive homes. If
you are interested, feel free to
reserve now!
That's not very nice just becuz my
brother is skinny, they call me BELLY. But I'm the friendliest
of all! I LOVE people & attention! In fact I demand it, so don't
take me home if you don't have the time I deserve! I arrived at
AFRP on 1/9/2011. 3 of my siblings did not survive while we were
in the Humane Society shelter. I survived with my brother
Gilligan and 2 others. Being at the shelter was a bit rough for
us. We were slated to be euthanized until Rescue Rabbit Rocks
people saved us. We approx 10 weeks old & are proud of our
"Helicopter Ears". We were both neutered on 1/12/2011 but now we
want to run, binky & be loved!
Arrived 6/9/2011. They came from a 3 acre
residence in Contra Costa County were they were
left outside free to breed before the owner
noticed they had quite a problem. Within 2
months she had over 30 baby rabbits before she
decided to ask for help. A fabulous rescue group
from CC is trying to solve the problem and we
are helping by trying to take in as many babies
as possible. These babies are 6 weeks old and
both girls. Many of these babies have a unique
quirk. One of their ear tips bend. They
apparently have lops in bloodline, they me be
lops, flops or have airplane ears. Whatever they
are they are adorably cute and unique. They can
be adopted now and we will arrange their spay in
a few months.
Jasper was found, along with 17 other
bunnies, abandoned along the Hayward
shoreline. Rescued right before the hard
freeze, he's a lucky boy. He's quite
friendly, considering the trauma he
experienced. AFRP has taken him in to
help find him his forever home. He is
considered a Silver Martin Breed. He was neutered on March 8th, 2011.
From
Contra Costa Times:
HERD OF PET RABBITS RESCUED
NEAR SAN MATEO-HAYWARD BRIDGE
TOLL PLAZA
“Three East Bay Regional Park
rangers, using nets, caught 18
cold and wet pet rabbits that
had been illegally dumped in a
marshy shoreline area near the
San Mateo-Hayward Bridge toll
plaza early last Thursday (Feb.
24) morning. Rangers said some
of the rabbits were so friendly
they actually came up to them.
All were taken to the Hayward
Animal Shelter where they were
cleaned up, fed and placed in
warm cages.”
This roughed up lookin' fella has been thru
the hoops to survive! He was spotted in our
next door neighbors yard meandering about
slowly, looking for food. They easily caught
him, brought him to our house thinking he
was one of ours. NO, he was just a lonely
scruffed up fella trying to survive.
Obviously a house pet at one point due to
the fact he has immaculate litter box
habits, he was in need of vet expertise,
having some over grown front teeth. Avian
Exotic clinic took care of him; neutered,
teeth trimming, some knotted hair & broken
nails. He found a lady who saw his sweetness
& she has been fostering him for the past
few weeks while he recovers from his outdoor
experiences. It's amazing he survived the
brutal nights !!! He is a love & needs an
indoor home only forever.
I am a sweet quiet little female
dwarf who was lucky enough to be
brought to the Salinas City
Shelter on April 8th. AFRP
rushed out to get her into a
foster home ASAP so she would
experience no fear. She is now
with a wonderful family who is
keeping her healthy and safe
until her adoptive family
discover her. In our short time
with her, we have discovered
that she loves to be held, loves
her parsley and kale and is
perfectly potty trained.
I am a
spirited, active and opinionated, spayed girl, so I'd be best
suited as a companion to another lonely that needs someone like
me to snuggle. I like my freedom and my belongings just so and
won't hesitate to let you know how I feel. I was part of a large
scale rescue of 28 rabbits in Grass Valley. We came from bad
conditions and were not well socialized. I was adopted & lived
w/a handsome lop for a year but the people got tired of taking
care of us. I was spayed on 7/10/10 up in Grass Valley by a real
nice Vet. Since I've been rescued, I've been so pampered, I
think Life may be alright after all, phew ! WON'T YOU LOVE ME
PLEASE ?
These little bunnies
came from a
rescue in Ceres.
AFRP is taking them
in after being
rescued along with 2
other bunnies and a
friendly guinea pig.
All three rabbits
were young and one
of them will need to
be supplemented with
milk. two of the
rabbits were young
brown agoutis and
this is a very small
hotot.
ZOEY is a
baby Giant Flemish, she is the
calmest of the 3 sisters rescued from the "Pan frying" episode. She
is simply a quiet litl' snuggly girl who we do expect to grow quite
large. She has earned the right to be adored, loved, pampered. We
are so proud to have her in our rescue considering what could have
been. We will do our best to find her an indoor home, safe from any
harm. She will become your best friend if you give her the
opportunity, devotion and above all else, time & attention. She is
approx 12 wks old on May 1st, 2011. She was spayed on June 2, 2011.
This is one
magnificent specie
of a real
full-fledged Rabbit!
This Gentle GIANT is
a rare rescue in our
system & we are
proud to host him
until he finds a
family who will
appreciate his
"greatness"! He is
neutered, micro
chipped & raring to
go! This guy can hop
2ft at a time !!! He
was found on a 50
acre farm, alone,
starving & gladly
ate right out of
human hands. They
surrendered him to
the Salinas County
shelter where they
treated him for ear
mites (no big deal),
neutered & micro
chipped him. We
promised the family
we would take him
into our care to
help him find a
home. He's a free
roamer for sure but
melts w/head rubs.
Isn't particularly
fond of being picked
up but can adjust if
you're willing to
work w/him. A truly
rare find indeed!
AGE EST: Young,
approx. 1-2 yrs.
(ADOPTED 5/30/2011)
King Kong eats a lot of
food! Sponsor King to help us feed him.
This little male dwarf is as
cute as button. Topped off with a little white dot on his nose he is
irresistible, not to mention his two font paws look like they were
dipped in white paint. He was an owner surrender to the Monterey
County shelter on 4/13/2011 and is estimated to be approx 1 year old. He
is not yet neutered. AFRP will cover the neuter when he is adopted. I am
terrified of cats and prefer to be by myself or with another bunny.
Please just keep the cats away!
POLLY is an independent, gorgeous
English Spot. She has the quirky FLOP ear syndrome to keep her
alert, but when she's relaxed she lets them flop! She loves
attention and would be just fine as your one and only. She's
about a year old, healthy, playful, intelligent and cute. She's
ready for a home where someone has the time and interest to
spoil her. She came to us spayed from the East Bay Rabbit
Rescue, Livermore, CA. POLLY is available for FOSTER or ADOPTION
TODAY!
My name is Gretal and I am a
female, black
Dwarf mix, I have a couple
spriglets of Lion Head hairs
on my forehead and booty . I am
approx 1 year and
6 months old.
I was spayed May 13th
2011 at the Monterey
County Shelter and was in
the stages of early
pregnancy, unfortunately the
babies could not be saved. I
was terrified to be all
alone and pregnant and
confined to a wire cage at
the shelter, but the
enthusiastic AFRP Rescue
Rabbits Rock Program came to
my rescue, arranged my spay
surgery, whizzed me back to
a quiet warm foster home.
Where they feed me handfuls
of fresh greens and hay
which I gobble right up. I
am 100% recuperated and now
waiting for a quiet patient
family to adopt me. I
am eager to experience a
safe environment so I can
return to being a carefree
little girl.
Rhonda and her 5 babies are another group rescued
from the beach dumping under the
San Mateo bridge last month. One
of the females had babies
shortly after the rescue & have
been in a “Baby Foster” home
w/their mom getting pampered &
fed so they are healthy happy
well-handled babies. They will need to be separated into
female/male groups (all are boys
except mom & 1 baby girl) We
NEED foster/adoptive homes. If

We happily
took in this handsome Mini Lop boy from a family facing a housing
crisis. We immediately got him neutered at AVIAN EXOTIC CLINIC so he
is raring to go to a new family who will give him the affection he
craves. He is still a very young frisky guy, approx. 1yr old but
will settle once his hormones subside. His former family kept him
outside during the day & safe in his pen at night so he's used to
having plenty of "out" time. He is a friendly active bunny, will
give you endless entertainment, but does appear to want affection
more than anything! Other than food (HAY, PELLETS, PRODUCE) and
immaculate potty box habits, people & cats are his favorite
preferences!
Jefferson is the last one left, He needs to find his forever
home!
This
is the description, written by owner, of how these beautiful
babies came about...
I was given 3 rabbits back in
July. I called around
immediately to get the male
neutered, only to find only a
handful of veterinarians will do
it and at a substantial cost,
and I was willing to pay the
$160.00 to get it done than they
start tacking on exam fees,
test, etc. so now its well over
$200.00. So I made an
appointment with animal control
which was 3 months out. I tried
to keep them separated in the
garden but that became was not
easy. I now have a rabbit with 5
babies about 2 months old, and
the same rabbit now has 9 more
babies about 3 weeks old. Last
night I found the mother close
to death I have her and the
babies in the house trying to
keep all alive. I need to find
someone to take some of these
babies off my hands and help me.
I know how a hoarder feels,
helpless and not knowing where
to turn.
AFRP has helped this family spay
and neuter all rabbits involved
in this situation. Jefferson is
the last dwarf bunny from this
rescue who needs a forever home.

RODGER Rabbit came into the
AFRP system via a personal
surrender on 4/9/2011. A
family adopted Mr. RODGER
from our SPCA so he is
neutered & micro chipped. He
is young & currently afraid
because he isn’t w/his
family anymore! He is full
grown & curious and we
promised to find him a new
family as fast as possible.
He’s a soft gray w/all white
paws & a cute round (full)
belly! He wants a FOSTER
HOME or a FOREVER HOME TODAY
These 2
awesomely friendly bunnies are in a sad situation. The owner bought
CHANCE from a breeder, he is a spectacular velvet purebred REX, full
grown & neutered, approx. 10 mos old as of 5/7/11. He was hand
raised & LOVES to be held, as does his sweet heart partner PRALINE.
She came to AFRP from a reptile shop up in VALLEJO, where she was to
be snake food, GRRRRR! She is spayed & same age. They are so happy
together we REALLY prefer they stay as a couple! These are the
"cream of the crop" for any family. INDOORS only, preferably NO cats
or dogs or very young children. The owner doesn't want them any more
so they are ready for a new life!
This Xtra
soft velvety pure bred REX came into our care 3/22/11
already spayed from the San Jose shelter. She was ready
to explore the moment we let her out! She is sweet,
holdable, excellently potty box trained & simply
stunning! The perfect rabbit for a perfect family who is
ready for some extraordinary entertainment. She is still
spunky & we've witnessed a few binkies already so we are
guessing her age to be 1-3 years of age. She loves her
hay, kale, romaine lettuce, carrot & apple slices. She's
a happy girl with no issues whatsoever!`

A very aware person saved this
baby from a man that was
illegally selling bunnies in a
back alley in L.A. She bottle
fed the baby, brought it to
Monterey and surrendered it to
us.
This beautiful lady came
from our very own local Mty County Shelter in Feb 2011.
If only she could talk & tell us her traumatic past, we
could understand her better. She is shy, maybe abused at
one point. Since she has been in our care, in a very
short time, she has blossomed into an adventurer. She
still has some guards up, doesn't like quick movements &
noise. She'd make an awesome bond for a lonely bunny or
an adult only calm family willing to pamper her. She
needs to learn trust again. Already likes being held &
loves head/eye massages. She was spayed on 2/3/11, was
in the early stages of pregnancy w/7 babies. She has
healed & is on her way to a better life
Hi, I just
escaped from the San Jose City Animal Shelter. My age is unknown. I had no idea how close
to death I was, but the AFRP Rabbit Rescue folks did! A volunteer drove
all the up from Monterey to get me and keeps telling me how lucky and
beautiful I am. I had knots in my feet and hay stuck to my fur and the
tips of my ears are a little worn (because they drag on the ground Lol). The doctor says I need to gain 5 pounds.
The AFRP Rescue Rabbit Volunteer's cleaned me up and fed me goodles of greens and hay! I
devoured treats and drank bowls of water. I was neutered on Feb 10th,
2011, and am enjoying my new life in a wonderful foster home who will
fatten me up until someone wants to adopt
me.
Arriving today from the
Watsonville Shelter! Cute
little Reddish brown,
possible female. We wont
know more until we see! We
will have a better pic and
more info soon.
Snicky is a female we took
from the San Martin, CA. rescue of a litter found without a Mom. We took
the 4 siblings, cleaned them up, bottle fed with kitten milk until they were
able to eat on their own. They are now young adults, all spayed at
Watsonville on 5/18/2010. Healthy & raring to run, she would love a
place to call home and will settle into a routine easily
given the chance. She loves timothy/oat hay mixture and fresh greens, yummy! Apples,
raisins, banana chips & a few cheerio's are her favorite treats (limited).
Snicky is used to being bonded with her sister,
but was recently separated. She would adapt well
with a single neutered male. She is
approximately 1 Year old, born approximately January 16, 2010.
This adorable baby girl is approx 10
weeks old & came to AFRP rescue from the Sacramento SPCA
hoarding rescue in Feb 2011. 50 breeder rabbits were confiscated
from an evicted breeder. We helped by taking 3 groups. JACEE
came w/a girlfriend, JENNA, but they can be adopted separately.
JACEE is a gorgeous gray dwarf w/a white lightning bolt stripe
down her forehead. She is an adventurous bouncing bundle of joy!
She is available for adoption, which will not be final until she
is spayed (approx MAY 2011). Both have been in a foster home
full of young kids & are used to being smothered w/love!
You actually
have to snatch me up & put me to bed so I don't exhaust myself. Now that
I'm neutered (2/8/11) I will calm down some, and the older I get, maybe
that will help too. But for now, I just feel like I always "gotta go"
ZIP ! I'm a local boy, managed to get myself dropped off at the
fabulous Salinas City Shelter. Boy they treated me good- They named me
HAPPY cause I was & still am, but the AFRP renamed me Zippy! Either
way I am ready to go go go! I'm just about as full
grown as I'm ever gunna be, but I'm still a baby at heart, approx 3-5mos
old ? I LOVE cats & possibly a dog or two. Kids, yeah, I like them too!
I swear I didn't do it !! I
am innocent beyond a twitch
of my cute litl' nose! I
will admit to performing
outta control BINKIES but
otherwise I am nothin' but a
normal sweet average
juvenile all gray boy
experiencing life to the
fullest. I was on death row
when the AFRP Rabbit Rescue
team found me w/ my
siblings. I am grateful for
everyday & simply like to
express my gratitude. I do
cartwheels and Pancakes! My
cartwheels are out of
control Binkies where I fly
so high I flip! I keep doing
them till I pancake like a
frog on the floor!
(ADOPTED TOGETHER
3/31/2011)
WAFFLE
As a baby WAFFLE was quite a
handful, so tiny he found himself squiggling into tight spots so we
called him Trouble. He has since grown to be a "mama's Boy. He now
prefers to sit beside his humans. He could be a wonderful lap bunny. He
is perfectly litter trained. His favorite treat is a slice of apple
every morning which he devourers. He was neutered on 9-04-09. He is
bonded and living with his brother Pancake, they come as a team.
AFRP is proud
to have helped this beauty, a ready to rock & roll REX
spayed female. We don't her whole story yet, but she was
in danger at the San Jose Shelter. She was surrendered
on March 11, 2011 - we snatched her up & moved
her down
here in Monterey on March 25th. We want to find to find
her the best ever home so she will never be at risk
again. She is super friendly but was initially afraid of
my cats. Available for foster or adoption today! More
info to come!
KANA & SORA are recent arrivals
in our family of rabbits at AFRP's Rescue Rabbits Rock. They are a beautiful bonded
pair surrendered because the owner was forced to give
them up due to loss of their home.
KANA, the Choco/Wht Dutch
neutered male will be 3 yrs old this Feb. 17th. He was
originally rescued by The RABBIT HAVEN then bonded w/our
very own SORA (aka CORKY) who is a mere 6 mos old spayed
female teenager. She came from a breeder rescue in Santa
Cruz then transferred to us 3 mos. ago.. She is a small
gorgeous Dwarf who loves to crawl over & under her buddy
KANA. He in return, grooms her so she is clean & sweet!
They are used to a puppy running around and LOVE
human cuddling. They are friendly, happy. fearless. They
are bonded bunnies we would like to keep
together forever.
Lucy is now a single one
year old female. She was rescued with 3 other siblings from a San Martin, CA. rescue of a litter found without a Mom.
Lucy was bonded with her sister for the past year, until recently. She
is now hoping to find a new bunny friend . Lucy loves to run, is an
expert furniture jumper. So be prepared for some high end entertainment.
She's quite hard to catch, but we have trained her to return to cleaned
pen but by using fresh treats. She tolerates being held for short
periods of time. She constantly finds our cats kibble and tries to eat
it, but this is highly discouraged. She is fearless of cats. She was
raised with 7 of them. She would tolerate a small mellow dog too. She
was spayed in
Watsonville on 5/18/2010. She devours timothy/oat hay & fresh greens and
Loves,
raisins, cheerio's and banana chips.
She is
approximately 1 Year old, born approximately January 16, 2010.
My name is Hudson
and I am a neutered male, gray and white Shorthaired Rabbit
The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 7 months old.
I have been at the shelter since Jan 21, 2011
Winston was recently surrendered to the AFRP
rescue program as a last resort from the
Watsonville shelter. He was threatened to be set
out in the wild, and we could not let that
happen as he is a domesticated house rabbit. He
came to us with his brother Spencer and
unfortunately they started bickering, so we
reluctantly had to separate them. He is a very
calm, quite, mellow boy who dreams of being
re-bonded with another bunny. The owner had him
for approximately 3 years, so he is 3 to 4 years
old. He is a beautiful brown ticked bunny who
tolerates being held. He seems rather sad. He
would love to be adopted or in a foster home
that can give him the attention he craves. He is
litter box trained and has a healthy appetite.
He is one of lowest maintenance bunnies that we
have.
JENNA is perhaps the
sweetest prettiest baby bunny on this planet!
She longs to be held, cuddled & smootched! She
is a teeney 10 week old baby girl looking for an
amazing family to protect her forever. She came
to us from the Sacramento SPCA breeder
confiscation w/50 other rabbits in Feb 2011. She
will need to be single or w/her sister JACEE
until she is spayed in MAY 2011. She can be in a
"Foster to Adopt" until then. She is an indoor
house pet ONLY due to her size. She is currently
in a loving foster home w/kids so she will be
well adjusted to a loving home!
Litl' girl ADDIE came to us from the Contra Costa County
Shelter in Martinez, CA. She is a small gray Dwarf & cute
as a button, however she is as independent as they come.
She wants things her way or no way. She comes with
plenty of attitude which makes us love her all that much
more. Addie was adopted but returned (The family lost
their Son in Afghanistan). We took her to the vet
11/11/2010 to have her spayed. Upon examination the
doctors found a possible spay scar so we chose not to
put her under for surgery. We believe she has already
been spayed & simply wants a person willing to cuddle &
snuggle her. We don't know her past, we simply know she
was in danger of being euthanized due to lack of space. A kind volunteer,
Michelle, drove them down to our area. All this to save
this girl's life!
This litl' gem is all legs, tail &
ears !! He is full of life, ready to romp & roll & tickle your
funny bones. He's quite the entertainer & loves to jump onto
couches, chairs tables & beds. He's almost mastered the potty
box training - still a few poo's escape him but they are
forgivable from such a friendly cutey pie. GILLIGAN came from
the Peninsula Humane Society w/his brother, HUCKLBERRY, up in
the Bay area. They were at risk due to overcrowding. But like
some brothers will, they started bickering, so we separated them
for their own safety. They were both neutered on Jan 12th, 2011
at the age of 2 mos. at Avian & Exotic Clinic here in Monterey.
He needs a fun home now!
Gilligan was briefly
adopted and while there bonded with their small dog. The dog
took to grooming Gilligan and Gilligan loved it! He gets a long with kids, dogs and
cats!
GUCCI is a beautiful
surrendered LIONHEAD/DWARF MIX female whose
owners got her from Monterey Bay Equestrian at a
petting zoo at All Saints in October of 2008 as
a baby. She weighs approx 4 pds and was spayed
at Avian on 2/15/11. She’s gorgeous in every
way! She has not had much attention so we have
been smothering her w/love, something she craves. She has
relaxed tremendously in only a few days. She
would possibly like a neutered boyfriend? She’s
so beautiful, we are looking
for a very compassionate family who can
supply the security she needs to feel safe. She is
well adjusted in so many ways, perfectly litter
box trained & loves her Timothy/Oat hay mixture,
along w/some Kale, baby carrots & cilantro.
Raisins and banana chips are some of her
favorite treats.
GUCCI is currently
at in foster but is available anytime for
adoption.
AFRP is proud to welcome
Doc, the gentle giant. He was a bunny at a preschool,
but like most bunnies, he found the kids' noise &
attention overwhelming - he's more of a true love bunny,
to be really special to someone or to a family. All he
wants is to be petted in your lap and cuddled - that's
what he lives for. He's a mellow bunny, likes to hang
out in the litter box, and lives for sitting on laps.
Maybe your lap has been feeling a little empty? DOC is
neutered & more than ever ready for a family to love him
forever & ever! He's from the EAST BAY Rescue Shelter in
HAYWARD
Big Foot the
Bunny originally arrived from the San Jose Shelter on June 23, 2010. He
is a large handsome fella and tends to want to be the boss. AFRP couldn't resist his irresistible charm. He is a neutered Agouti
French Lop who was a surrender to the shelter by the
family he had been with for more than a year, so he is full grown. He has a
microchip. His pinecone must go with him when he gets adopted! Big foot
was adopted back in July, 2010 but has to be returned because the owner
is moving. He is now looking for his new home with you.
*"Loves veggies: greens,
celery, parsley, carrots and bunny treats: anything except hay
blocks.(he loves ratatouille Le bon croissants)"
*"Enjoys a bit of vacuuming from my small hand vacuum."
*"Will tolerate being "plucked" on top and sides, not from the bum! He
will rest in your lap on his back in a quiet environment for belly
brushing and nail trims."
*"Most of all- he loves to be lazy! Prefers a cozy sit down under my
foot stool rather than a romp around the house!"
*"Loves his head and back rubbed and scratched- just not his nose, it
tickles!"
*"But Beware- he has his space issues, and if he wants to be left alone,
he will most certainly let you know with grunts and lunges-So respect
his wishes, he's as sweet as can be, just on his terms!"
*"Tolerates my cats beautifully-by completely ignoring them!"
*"Is accustomed to outside harness time, loves to nibble grass in the
sun while you pluck away (he is a constant shedder)."
*"Small children, or any child in general should not expect him to
tolerate any sudden or rough handling-small fingers do look like baby
carrots!"
*Dislikes all timothy hay products- blocks, pellets, etc.
JACOB (wht male)
(Jacob was Adopted 2/7/2011)
& EMILY
(Grey Female)
(Emily was Adopted 2/18/2011)
Both these beauties came
to AFRP via the Martinez shelter where they're still
dealing w/the massive rescue of a backyard breeder
(which we helped in early last year). We now are
proud to help save 2 of their beautiful lops! These
2 are clearly in love so we would like them to stay
together but if you are willing to give one endless
love & attention, we will adopt them out separately.
Must be indoor bunnies ! JACOB is the leader of the
2, EMILY is a tad more timid when she's around noise
& too many animals. A quiet environment would be
ideal ! They are very clean, LOVE to eat & crave
attention. They need a FOSTER or ADOPTIVE Home
where they will be the only bunnies, as they do get
jealous when other rabbits are around. Both love to
run & Binky so be prepared for a lot of activity
from these two! Both are spayed/neutered & approx.
1yr old (as of Jan 2011).
This special neutered REX boy
escaped death within hours! We rescued him from a very over
filled Santa Cruz shelter. Luckily he is as charming as they
come & would love a home that lets him run loose & give him the
attention he craves! We can only guess his age, but he acts like
a teenager, eats like a teenager & is as active as can be. He's
very friendly but needs his play time before he settles down to
be held. He is super soft (REX breeds are known for their
velvety fur coats) and is stunningly handsome w/chubby cheeks to
die for! We want him in the best home ever so he can live a
long, healthy happy life. Maybe he would like a friend so he can
cuddle & comfort when his humans are at work. HAYWIRE is available
for foster or adoption today! He was neutered approx. FEB 1,
2011. Arrived to AFRP 2/05/2011
This handsome litl’ guy came way from our own area, The Monterey
County animal services. We brought him into the AFRP Rabbit
Rescue Program the day he was neutered, Aug 31, 2010. The vet
estimates him to be a mere 3-4 mos old. He’s a friendly boy
wanting to be wanted! We don’t know why he was at the shelter
but he is super friendly & healthy and lonely. We would like to
get him into a foster home until he meets his forever home. In
the meantime, we are providing him his favorite toy, a simple
cardboard box ! Please consider DEXTER to be your new family
member!
Foo Foo was surrendered
back to
us on 1-7-2011. He was adopted in 2009 at Posh Pets. The family had to
move and downgrade. He is the sweetest, easiest neutered boy ever! he is
BLK/WHT Dutch short haired lonely boy. He loves to snuggle and be held
and is currently in foster care. he would be an ideal buddy for a spayed
female. he is small. approx 2lbs but has a thousand pounds of love to
give! He is litter box trained.
While walking her dog, Michelle came across a house having a
garage sale and selling baby bunnies. She asked them where the rabbits
were from and told them
That she works with rabbit rescue. She was only expecting one or two
litters, but
what she found was shocking. The people at this house have a population
of about
100 rabbits living free in their dog kennel area on the side of the
house. They
were told they had two males rabbits, but one ended up being a female .
They had a litter a month later. Female rabbits can get pregnant the day
they give birth! Many people do not know that the male needs to be
separated immediately and the babies need to be with their mother for 8
weeks.
The people started selling the babies, but no one bought any. Yet, no
one at
their house thought to call a vet or local animal rescue about getting
help for the rabbit problem they had.
A rescue of this
magnitude can reach a cost of up to $5,000 or more. If you in the
position to help, please visit "The Rabbit Haven" website or click the
link below. All of these bunnies to to be Spayed and Neutered. Make a
note in the PayPal note that you are donating to the Martinez Rescue.

Allie traveled all
the way down to Monterey from Placer County where she was surrendered to
their shelter. She gave birth to 5 incredible litl' lops whom she
protected & cared for like a mom should! She still lives with her two
kids Molly and Marley. They are so much in Love we just didn't have the
heart to separate them. They are currently living all together in an
xtra large dog crate and are perfectly litter box trained. These three
are cleaner and easier to care for than one small bunny. They are super
lazy but require out time at least twice a day so they can stretch their
legs and explore. The seriously love being together. Allie was spayed on March 16th, 2010.
We estimate her age to be approx 2 years old.
Molly, far left is
the largest of the three. She is a
squishy, squashy, smooshy 1 year old spayed girl.
Marley, middle pic,
is the large baby boy and is a happy frisky
neutered boy. We refer to them as the three blind mice as the
follow each other around, clean each other, play together and eat and
poop together. They are used to living in a house full of cats and would
adore an area where they can get their feet dirty in some fresh dirt.
they spend most of their tome shredding cardboard. They love
strawberries, Kale, dandelion greens, raisons and a couple of cheerios
as a treat!
RESCUE RABBITS ROCK found this litl'
gem on Xmas Eve day, 2010 at the SPCA barn. She was barely 4
weeks old & all alone. It was cold, dark & the barn was filled
w/roosters & horses. We HAD to scoop her up & carry her home! We
gave her a warm fleece blanket, kitten replacement milk & tons
of Alfalfa. She is now a "ready to run" baby girl, still not old
enough to be spayed till March 2011. We would love to get her
into a safe family ASAP so she can be a cuddle bunny best friend
to a permanent family someday. If you need a friend, this
sweetheart is ready to save you !
"I just wanted to let you know that Ella is an awesome rabbit. She
loves loves loves attention. She just can't get enough sometimes. If you
stop loving on her before she is ready she will let you know by tugging
on your clothes or give you a little nip that she wants more. I let her
out whenever I am home and she curious and nosey. She mostly wants to be
where you are and be in the middle of whatever you are doing. She
binkies and runs around, she loves to jump up on my bed and in my lap.
She has a great personality and will be a great adoptable rabbit. All
she requires is free time to run around and lots and lots of attention.
am described as a white and grey spayed Shorthaired Rabbit My age is
unknown. I am a big lug, snuggable, holdable rabbit. She was brought to
the shelter on Oct 7th.
My name is Festive and I
am a female, brown Shorthaired REX Rabbit. The shelter staff think I am
about 2 years old. I have been at the shelter since Nov 11, 2010.
I was spayed 12/3/2010. I
will be at the AFRP Rabbit show at PetSmart in Sand City on Dec 11 & 12
ready for adoption!
This incredibly
friendly dwarf bunny was dropped off at the
Salinas Shelter night drop Fri Nov 26th, 2010. It put the shelter
over their limits so we were more than anxious
to help. She is not yet spayed yet and can be
adopted as long as her new family
will supply endless attention & love. She is part Lionhead
and is just as sweet as can
be. We do not know the situation of why she was surrendered but it was not because of
her
personality! Thank you to the
family for caring enough to place her somewhere
safe! The Shelter vet
estimates her to be 5 mos old. We are arranging
to have her spayed soon but she can be adopted
today.
My
name is Sassafras. I am a spayed, medium sized light brown
French Lop. I was surrendered to the shelter with my guy, and
two boys. There really wasn't housing for all of us, so they
stuffed us all in a tiny cage, EWWWW! I did get adopted but the
people let me loose & I was found hopping down a street w/cars
roaring by. A driver noticed, stopped, caught me & took me to a
vet. Luckily I'm micro chipped & they called the original rescue
group who quickly called AFRP. All this happened in less then 2
hrs! I'm a very nice calm, young gentle girl & like to be with
people. I come w/an old eye injury to show my past has been
rather rough. I must have 9 lives !!!!! My next home MUST ADORE
me forever & ever & ever, I've paid my dues!
This handsome little boy came to us from our local
shelter. He is a tad shy due to the environment which he
found a little scary. We have been holding him so he
feels safe & loving him so he knows it’s OK to act like
a happy bunny.
He has shown fantastic improvement in a very short time!
He would prefer a home more on the quiet attentive side,
maybe a bunny friend to snuggle with for the upcoming
cold Winter months. He eats anything, loves to keep his
pen clean, perfect litter box habits and is even micro
chipped! He was neutered in Sept 2010, approx age 3 mos.
He has one white paw to make him uniquely distinctive
from any other bunny!
I am a
footloose fancy free 2-ish year old beautiful single girl looking for a
place to rest my paws. I came from the Salinas shelter where my time was
limited. The AFRP promised me that they would find me a perfect home. I
am super friendly and love to be pet and held. I am quite beautiful if I
say so myself. I love fresh daily greens, willow balls and am quite as a mouse. How can
you resist me? Come in to hold me and you will never want to let me go.
This incredibly
friendly dwarf bunny was dropped off at the
Salinas Shelter night drop Fri Nov 26th, 2010. It put the shelter
over their limits so we were more than anxious
to help. She is not yet spayed. This little
girl is a squishy cuddler of all time. We do not know the situation of why
she was surrendered but it was not because of her
personality! Thank you to the
family for caring enough to place her somewhere
safe! The Shelter vet
estimates her to be 5 mos old. We are arranging

This precious litl' girl is so dear to
our hearts. She was born at the Salinas
City shelter along w/her brother
Popcorn. The whole family were
individually adopted, but for personal
reasons, PEANUT needed to be surrendered
so we gladly took her back to find
another best ever home. She is almost 1
whole year old now, is not used to kids
but is friendly & kinda prefers a
quieter type house. She may even like a
little bunny boyfriend to cuddle up
with. Her mom is PICKaDILLY, who
recently was transported back to
Wisconsin. Her brother moved back east
too, so she's all alone
out here now & would love a new home
soon! She was spayed
in Watsonville on May 3, 2010.
FONZI came all the way down from the Sac
SPCA shortly after he was neutered Oct
15, 2010. He was a surrender from a
family who found him & kept him for a
year. He loves to be held & is known as
a lover boy. He lived w/a dog & chicken
but no kids. That doesn't mean he can't
adjust. He does have a malocclusion
dental issue. He will need his teeth
trimmed, which is a simple yet ongoing
process. The procedure can be done at
AVIAN EXOTIC Clinic & the Drs. can
provide further info. Perhaps every 3-6
mos. He is approx 1 1/2 yr old and has
no other known health problems
(Fostered to Adopt)
UPDATE!
We took Fonzi up to Avian and Exotic
Clinic to have have his dental issue
addressed. The doctors advised that the
best treatment would be to remove all 4
front teeth (They would have needed to
be filed down every three weeks for the
rest of his life). He is happily
recovering in an awesome foster home.
A very special THANK YOU to Jim and
Shannon for their generous donation,
This kind of compassion is rare and your
act of kindness will help Fonzi live a
long healthly life.
These 2 litl' lady
dwarfs are from our own "backyard" rescue we helped
before it got out of hand. After 3 litters, we
finally collected all the bunnies & these 2 are the
last! They're from a litter of 9 so bonding them
would be easy, however since they were the last to
be caught, they are timid & shy. We brought them
home & it took some time but everyday they showed
improvement. They litter box trained themselves &
tolerate humans better. They can be saved w/alot of
LOVE & CUDDLES. They'll be spayed in 2/11 when
they'll be approx 4 mos OLD. (We est. their
birthday approx Oct 2010)
My name is Figgy puddin
and I am a neutered male, brown Shorthaired Rabbit
The shelter staff think I am about 10 months old. I was brought to the
shelter on Oct 7th.
This Lovely litl' lady stole my
heart when I recently visited the Salinas Shelter. She came
running over to the front of her cage, put her graceful tiny
paws up on the highest bar she could reach, then wiggled her
twitching nose thru the cage to give me a kiss. I HAD to scoop
her up & carry her out, hence another awesome bunny is in our
care now. She was spayed DEC 1st and is ready to steal someone else's heart!. There
is just something about her that I found irresistible so I know
we can help her find a new better than ever home. She's worth
every effort we may face!
Salinas Vets est. her to be 3 mos
old , she is part flop & simply wants love!
Frankie came to AFRP from the Salinas City Shelter
as Whiskers, but we did not feel the name reflected the scope of his
size.
Frankie is one of the
largest rabbits we have ever rescued! He is a handsome Harlequin
boy, approx 3 years young. He was neutered 9/28/2010 at Avian & is ready
to entertain a family with his amazing personality. This guy is a rare
acquisition so he won't be available for long, he's bound to get snatched
up quickly! Frankie isn't fazed by cats or dogs or even young children.
He just doesn't give a hoot! Give him his hay & plenty of produce and
he's happy. Loves to completely sprawl out and measures approx 28" long!
How can you not love him?? There is not mean bone in his body and he is
larger than most cats, and best of all his ears drag on the ground. He
absolutely melts with head massages. He's considered the Golden Retriever of
Rabbits.
I am one FOXY lady. I am over one year old but my real
age is unknown. They named me cougar because I appear to
be lonely and would like to hook up with a younger
bunny. I am micro chipped and ready for dating. Just
call to set up a time and place.
I am the very last of the New Mexico rescue of 334 bunnies from last
year! I am a neutered (10/7/09) boy who cannot decide if I am a Lop or
not, so I keep my right ear up & my left ear down. I became an AFRP
Rescue bunny on 10/9/09. I endured a very long car ride all the way from
New Mexico & am happy to be here where the people treat me like a king!
I am well trained and extremely well behaved, clean, potty trained, and
always hungry for treats. I prefer to have a space to hang out in all my
own, a pen or proper sized cage. I don't love being held but like to be
around wherever the action is. I am extremely lonely and would love to
pair up with a spayed girl! I have been in the system for a long time
now and would really appreciate that one special person to connect with.
Won't you please consider me. I am Available for fostering or adoption
today!
This handsome snuggle lover is as awesome as bunnies come! He is a
complete blob of bunny! He came down to AFRP via Sacramento SPCA where
he sat in a shelter cage for 4-5 months. We kept seeing his pic & was
drawn to him over & over, so we finally snatched him into our rescue
program in hopes he can find his forever family down here in Monterey!
Snoopy is a full grown Himalayan gray/wht neutered male with a totally
laid back personality. At first he’ll need to adjust to his new
surroundings, like any new bunny, but then his personality starts to
come out. Loves his veggies & lots of Hay. Was neutered on 2/2/10 at Sac
SPCA. He likes cats & would probably adapt to a dog. Calm household is a
preference w/a safe garden for exploration & exercise.
I am
a beautiful White/Brown REX boy raring to go anywhere but a cage! I come
from the Salinas City Shelter, how or why is anyone’s guess, but here I
am!
I
need a little patience, I was very frightened from my past but I am in a
great place now & am feeling safer, letting my guard down. I get
wonderful treats on a daily basis & toys that are edible! The shelter
estimates my age of maybe 7 mos, it’s hard to tell. I was neutered up at
Avian Clinic on Sept 9th, 2010. I rebounded quickly & will
now wait patiently for a terrific person to connect with! I’m super
clean and love to use my potty box. I’d also love a cardboard box to
sleep under. I’m so easy!
Tuna
came to us from a private citizen who
rescued him from "down the coast". He
was given to us from a family whose
child lost interest and didn't care for
him anymore. They kept him outside in
his tiny cage all day/night. He is a
little gray Lionhead and as cute as they
get and will most likely be adopted out
ASAP! In the two days he has spent
here we have discovered he loves to be
held, loves to be cuddle, loves to
explore. He will need someone to give
hive him a nice combing at least twice a
week. He is available for adoption or
long term fostering. Please help us give
him an indoor home that he deserves. He
was neutered on Tuesday Nov 23.
Gidgit is a pint size beautiful English Spot w/huge eyeballs !
We brought this sweetheart down from the Sacramento SPCA to bond
with our personal bunny. We feel she is too small for our house
hold (7 cats) are a tad intimidating for her. She is gorgeous &
if she were double the size, we’d keep her forever. But we have
decided to find her a better suited family/home so she can relax
& live the perfect life she deserves!
I am a sweet happy well adjusted 6 mos
old girl who just wants to play & be
held! I was recently spayed up in Contra
Costa County (11/3/2010) at the shelter
that luckily saved me. they shipped me
down here to Monterey so I could find a
home fast so I wouldn't be placed on the
euthanisa list....phew!! So now I'm
asking for a family who wants to worship
me & cater to my every desire. I
do NOT wanna be be stuck in a small cage
and forgotten. I feel I've earned the
right to be pampered for the rest of my
life!
MISHKA is a Carmel
elite bunny, high class, & very proper! He knows his manners, prefers
classical music & a beautiful view from his custom built condo. Mishka
is a "surrender" to the AFRP & was neutered at Avian Clinic on
4/16/2010. He is young , approx 3 mos old & extremely sweet, cuddly &
clean. It is fair to say he may be slightly spoiled having been fed
organic produce & bottled water. Not that we demand the same but he
would if possible, be treated like a king! Available to ADOPT or FOSTER.
Pepsi Girl became a part of the AFRP family on 8/24/10 from the
Salinas city shelter. She was spayed on 8/25/10 and is
ready for adoption. We don’t know why this beautiful petite
chinchilla girl ended up in the shelter, but luckily for her,
she will now be safe forever. We would love to find her an
indoor only home so she can binky about endlessly. We would love
to help bond her if you have a neutered male, but otherwise she
is getting used to living with cats. She is perfect w her litter
box habits & loves a slice of apple for a pre breakfast treat.
Currently devours Collard Greens, Kale & Romaine lettuce
(and of course endless hay!) Also available for fostering.
I am a pure a white little female dwarf with beautiful
unusual crystal blue eyes. I was rescued from the
Salinas City Shelter where they were kind enough to spay
me on 10/7/2010. I am a little restless due to the fact
that I have been locked in a cage too long. I need
someone willing to let me get out of my cage, run
around, perform some binkies to get some of my pent up
energy out. I feel I have great possibilities in the
future. I need someone to be my "Prince Charming".
"Here is
our beloved Choopie. She is 2 years old, we got her from a
private owner. She was one of the few babies left. The owner
told us that her son's girlfriend would always pick up
Choopie because she was so friendly and lovable. She is like
a cat because she loves to come up to you and put her head
under your hand to be rubbed on her nose or ears. We would
carry her on walks to fisherman's wharf and downtown
Monterey and receive lots of attention of people wanting to
pet her. She has been a wonderful pet, it hurts to let her
go".
This velvety soft REX lady is a
sweetheart w/an attitude! Things
must be her way or no way!
Probably best suited for a bunny
savvy family as she does nip
when she wants her way. Not
ideal choice for kids. She
originally came from the
Watsonsville Shelter nearly 2
yrs ago, was adopted but
recently surrendered to AFRP.
We would love to get her back
into a home of her own ASAP so
she doesn't have to adjust to
"shelter" living. She is spayed
& slightly confused (where did
my family go ?). She just needs
some love !
Fella is a mini lop rabbit. He is an active
bunny who had an absolute blast exploring our
secure outdoor exercise area. He checked out the
play structures, nibbled on the greenery and
literally kicked up his heels. He even weaved
around and through our legs.
Fella likes being petted and groomed. However
like many rabbits, he's not fond of being picked
up and carried around. Rabbits are ground-loving
creatures who feel most comfortable when they
are on the floor. They can be taught to accept
routine handling but there's nothing unusual
about a rabbit who prefers to sit beside your
instead of on your lap.
This
lucky boy was saved w/his family by a nice lady who found them in her
backyard shortly after they were born. She collected all 4 baby bunnies
& delivered them to us so we could find them safe homes. We believe they
were born on Xmas Day, Dec 25, 2009. Pickles was adopted but decided he
didn't want to live with his brother anymore so we took him back to find
him a new home. He just may like a girlfriend now that he is neutered
and recovered from his hormonal instincts! He is LONELY and wants some lovin'!
AFRP has our own Isis that came all the way from
Illinois. She's a little grey dwarf that was surrendered to us
from a family who lost their home and couldn't
care for her properly anymore. They wanted the
very best for her so they called the AFRP Rabbit
Rescue Program. She's extremely friendly, young,
but not yet spayed. She is available for Foster
to Adopt until her surgery is complete.
I am gorgeous! I'm a soft, sweet, gentle, absolutely the
most handsome bunny in the world. Did I say I am
gorgeous? My neuter date is 10/13/2010 and I will be
available for foster or adoption right after. Just
contact Lisa and ask about the gorgeous bunny that needs
a home.
this is one of 23 dwarf rabbits that were surrendered by a local Breeder,
bringing the Santa Cruz shelter into critical overflow - 38 rabbits in a
house with room for only 6! And 65 more may be coming soon. Animal
control agents brought in these rabbits finding the breeder to have far
more than he could possibly house appropriately. Now, the breeder will
have 2 weeks to move out an additional 65! So, we may be receiving even
more in very soon. We are operating on a very short time schedule. This
is an extremely urgent rescue situation. We need to move the rabbits out
to rescue very soon. We will need foster sites/adoptive
homes/donors/help of all kind. Will you help these rabbits? Do you have
space to set up one to three pens of rescued bunnies? Even one? These
are small dwarf bunnies. They are a bit alarmed right now but generally
sweet. Coming from their former living situation this must seem like a
palace. But sadly the shelter will not allow these rabbits to remain
very long. The shelter staff have been great. They are willing to hold
out for rescue for a limited time. We have agreed to help in the rescue.
We have to move these rabbits before the next group comes in. Having
them there also puts all the other rabbits up front at this shelter at
immediate risk. The shelter had 13 prior to this dump! The situation is
dire. The Santa Cruz shelter is very small. It will even help to move
out existing rabbits in the front of the shelter to make more room. We
need to act quickly! Sadly the AFRP foster sites are full at the moment
so it will be next to impossible for us to move these rabbits into our
program. We need FOSTER help ASAP! They need immediate rescue or additional foster support. We
would need to set up a minimum of 10 foster sites to pull this off so
call today if you can foster. We provide all supplies that you would
need to house and care for your foster bunny and you provide the love,
care and support. We will provide training for you in the care and
proper housing of the rabbits. These rabbits are housed in a garage at
the shelter. There is literally no other room! Each cage is filled with
two rabbits. The rabbits will need immediate help! So much will be
needed to help these sweet bunnies. Good news! Of this group there
does not appear to be any with injuries- All females are most likely
pregnant so the shelter manager and us are working against the clock to
get the females spayed tomorrow and Friday. We will work with the
shelter to cover these costs. Even though the shelter is very short
staffed, they are working very hard to help. Kudos to their Animal
control department. These rabbits have very little, just the
basics (more than they had): Food, water, hay and a litter box.
POOKEY is a teeney baby with a huge heart! She is the sweetest little
girl we’ve ever had! She longs to be held anytime & is always ready for
more attention.
She
explores fearlessly & is not afraid of anything, cats, kids, vacumms
etc. This sweety pie needs someone who needs love because that’s all she
has to give.
Completely potty box trained, loves any veggies available & especially
loves her fresh alfafa! Too sweet for words.
POOKEY came into our rescue program from the Salinas City Shelter.
Available for FOSTER or ADOPTION at Lisa’s house (831) 883-1734
(She
is still too young to be spayed, approx 3 mos old as of Sept. 10, 2010
He is a
stunning black w/white markings baby boy. He is one of AFRP's most
recent rescues from our local shelter. He is a soft friendly house
rabbit. Harley likes to explore the house and hide under his wicker
basket and binky when he is excited. He is a small petite dwarf mix.
These little guys go quick so call ASAP if you would like to meet him.
He was neutered on 5-14-2010.
PATCHES (formerly Finnegan at the Salinas City Shelter)
is now in the AFRP Rescue system. This beautiful Harlequin neutered boy
sat at the shelter for 4-5 mos & no one wanted him. How sad! We decided
it was time to pull him out & find a new home for him ASAP. He is super
clean, a tad finicky regarding his produce selections (loves dandelion
grns, dislikes broccoli & Collard grns). He is learning that people are
OK & cats are fun! PATCHES is special to us so a great home is
mandatory. He may enjoy a bunny girlfriend to cuddle & snuggle with. His
age is unknown. Available for foster or adoption.
This fuzzy
baby boy came down from the Sacramento SPCA. We consider him a precious
gift in our system & promised we would find him the very best forever
home. He is approx 4 months old, he was neutered on July 2nd. He needs daily gentle combing & a hay rack as his fur
tends to attract hay & tangles! Sweet as a button!
Hershey Boy is a luxurious Velvet soft
choco brn Rex. He had a rough neuter surgery recovery
but is now raring to go!
He adores eye & ear massages but prefers
to stay close to the ground (meaning he wants you on the
ground at his level!) HERSHEY BOY is approx 1 maybe 2
yrs old. He has beautiful skinny legs and curly short
whiskers!
Litl' girl ADIE came to us from the Contra Costa County
Shelter in Martinez, CA. She is a small gray Dwarf & cute
as a button. She is not yet spayed & simply wants a
person willing to cuddle & snuggle her. We don't know
her past, we simply know she was in danger of being
euthanized due to lack of space. The Rabbit Haven & AFRP
decided to take 2 each to help out. A kind volunteer,
Michelle, drove them down to our area. All this to save
this girl's life !
Wiggles Came to
AFRP from the Salinas
City Shelter
I am a super duper
bundle of bunny! I am a super nice, ever so clean & a happy guy in
general. I am not afraid of what life throws at me and I'll even let
people hold me! I love to explore. I will eat anything
& nap if you want me to. I came from the Salinas City Shelter where they
took great care of me but oh how I long for a permanent home and family.
I'm already neutered (July 2010) & approx 1 year young. I am a
surrender from a family who exchanged me for a dog - I didn't have a
voice in the matter. I love cats and people rub my ears!
Confetti was bonded
and adopted with Wiggles above. He only spend one day in our care before
he found a mate and a forever home.
(Adopted
with Wiggles 10-2-2010)
ELVIS
Elvis has arrived to AFRP! He was
with a family in the Sacramento area that lost interest and let
him loose. A neighbor child found him and took him to his
classroom. The teacher tried unsuccessfully to find him a home,
then contacted a rabbit rescue group. An urgent e-mail was sent
and AFRP responded. He is not yet neutered. His front incisors
will need trimming approx every 4 months. Definitely a small degree of malocclusion.
This problem may resolve itself with the correct diet or it may
be ongoing. It is a 15 minute procedure at the vets office and
runs about $50.
Hi! My name is Tanay. I am a little,
super cute, neutered dwarf boy. I'm
kinda of shy, so I prefer when
people are peaceful and take their
time getting to know me. I know it's
hard to resist just wanting to scoop
me up and kiss me all over my
precious little, furry body, but
patience will get you much further
with me. I'm a nice bunny who just
needs some time to get comfortable
with people and would do best with
adults or older, respectful kids.
I'm not as nervous though when it
comes to meeting other bunnies.
My bossy side comes out and I
definitely want to be in charge!
This beauty came from the Contra Costa County Shelter &
is more than ready to find a happy home. She is
spayed and avail to adopt or foster. She is happy to
be in the AFRP rescue Program knowing death row is never
an option. She was facing euthanasia due to limited
space. We are excited to have been able to help! More
info coming when we get to know her personality better!
This beauty came
to us from the Sacramento SPCA approx 4-months ago when she was just a
baby. She is approaching 6-months old and has not yet been spayed. She
has been living comfortably with another dwarf bunny in a fabulous
foster home. She is unique because she is calm, used to being held by
children and will sit on your lap for hours. She loves to lay on the bed
and watch TV as long as there are humans around. We plan to have her
spayed this September. She is currently in foster but is available for
adoption by appointment.
This
gorgeous FLOP baby girl is truely a miracle bunny – she came to our
rescue all the way from Placer County. Enduring a 5 hour car ride, and
arriving in Monterey late Fri eve (9/10/10), she was terrified & just
wanted to hide. She needs a person with a huge heart to hold her & teach
her she is now safe from an unknown, yet scary past. She is still a
baby, needs spaying soon, but needs a quiet home ASAP. Are you willing
to hold her, spoil her & earn her trust? She is absolutely gorgeous !
She longs for love!
Abigail (Abby) , Skooter Pie & Hallie all came down to us
from a rescue in Grass Valley, Calif.
The owner left his property & moved out of state. The
shelter there was alerted & collected all the rabbits he left behind.
They were cared for before & are all child friendly happy small sized
rabbits. All 3 are girls and are spayed.
2 are Lionheads (not purebred) but beautiful none the
less, and Skooter Pie is a super clean (litter box manners excellent!)
precious grey/wht shorthair. They are all used to being around other
bunnies/children.
Ages are unknown but appear to be under 1 yr old. All 3
are extremely entertaining, playful and holdable!
PS Abby LOVES tossing her willow ball (w/bell inside).
We are
currently at our foster mom Lisa's house. She says you can call her
anytime to make an appointment. (831) 883-1734.
This beautiful blue eyed dwarf is deceiving! Sweet as she
looks, she has bunnyless energy & loves to play! Would NOT do well
locked up in a cage all day. Maybe a bunny boy friend would give her
someone to play with ? She requires a lot of love & attention. She came
from the Santa Cruz shelter which accepted 65+ dwarfs from an illegal
breeder & was spayed in Aug 2010. She is full grown and still fits in
one hand! If you have plenty of room & time to be entertained,
SOPHIE is
the right choice ! Age approx 1yr old. She comes with her own willow
tunnel.
BIANCA is a full grown Dwarf rescued from a breeder in
Santa Cruz. She is lucky to have found her way down to the AFRP Rabbit
Rescue Program where will will keep her safe for as long as it takes
until the right person connects w/her. She is a sweet, clean well
adjusted bunny who doesn't know how great life can be. She was raised in
a small box cage & is now enjoying binkies & other bunny friends!
This sweet heart bunny came to the AFRP
Rabbit rescue by way of a private citizen who was left with a rabbit by
her grown kids. Not knowing a thing about rabbits, she found our rescue
program & called, slightly panicked. She surrendered her to us on
7/9/10. She was spayed on 7/18/10 (in case of pregnancy) and is
recuperating in a comfortable foster home. Pinky is a sweet
quiet bunny, careful to explore but then feels right at home. Very
mellow, non chewer, extremely relaxed. Would do best in a quieter
environment w/o lots of commotion or chaos. She seems to love to be
“settled”. She is available for bonding appts, adoption, or a nice
foster home by calling (831) 883-1734.
My name is Maggie May and I am one BIG white New Zealand female. I was spayed,
11/15/09. I am about 2 years old. I
am lucky to have been saved by the fabulous Rabbit Rescue Volunteers.
They found me to be irresistible when they looked into my beautiful ruby
eyes and saw my laid back disposition. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty
of spunk, but would rather sprawl in the middle of the room and observe
all the action going on around me. My favorite pastime is eating. I'll
eat anything. I love rice crispy treats. (Shame on my foster mom). I am
extremely cat, dog, and kid friendly. My foster mom says I'm a couch
potato. I'm clean, I'm nice, and I want my very own home now.
Maggie's Update
Maggie went
into a 3 month foster home, but was abruptly returned due to family
disharmony (she fell prey to broken relationship). It appears she may
have been slightly neglected, but is rapidly rebounding to her old self.
She needs a patient family to help her regain her faith in us humans.
Sunny was
found wandering the streets of P.G. She is one lucky bunny! She
was picked up and turned into Posh Pets, The AFRP Rabbit rescue agreed
to take her in and help find her a wonderful new forever home. More
details to follow on this wonderful girl. Sunny was spayed on 8/5/2010.
My name
is MoJo and I am a male, white and brown Shorhaired rabbit, I was
neutered 11/17/09. The Salinas shelter staff think I am about 8 mos old. Don't ask me why I ended
up here but I know I am in the best possible Rabbit Rescue Project ever! AFRP spoils me beyond a bunny's dream w/fresh carrot bits, romaine
lettuce, & my favorite, willow balls! Only thing missing is my very own
family. I'd love to settle down ASAP!
Coco was
found wandering the streets of Pacific Grove along Junipero Street. He is one lucky bunny! He
was picked up and turned into Posh Pets. The AFRP Rabbit rescue agreed
to take him in and help find him find a wonderful new forever home. Coco has
a little hitch in his get-a-long. It's an old injury which is causing
him to limp a bit. The Vet thinks there is a chance he will fully
recover. More
details to follow on this wonderful guy. Coco was neutered on 8/5/2010.
This is
TUCKER & he fell into the hardships of the tough economy. His family did
the right thing, they surrendered him back to the AFRP RABBIT RESCUE
Program where they adopted him from!
Tucker was originally a rescue from the Salinas shelter.
We positively love TUCKER, a neutered REX boy approx 3yrs young and
would like to find him a new family ASAP.
One that will appreciate his velvety soft coat, his perky personality
yet his laid back style.
He is not too happy being homeless even though we spoil him dearly.
He needs his own place to run, binky & plop down for a nice nap!
TUCKER is currently at POSH PETS waiting.
His fellow bunny friends will be available for instant adoption too!
This rabbit
was owned by an elderly woman who could no longer provide the proper
care. Luckily an employee of the Avian and Exotic clinic became aware
of the situation and convinced her to surrender him to us. The clinic
provided a compassionate no charge neuter 5-17-2010.
"I happened to come across this
very cute and friendly rabbit in my neighborhood while taking my
dogs for a walk earlier this week. What is interesting is that
he started hopping
after me and my dogs! I saw "Oreo" trying
to cross the street in front of us and almost get run
over--luckily, the driver saw him and stopped. I couldn't
bare the thought of leaving him behind to get run over, attacked
by a dog, or in the wrong human hands So I went to save him. He
actually came right up to me. No
one has claimed Oreo. He just such a cool bunny and would love
to be in a wonderful loving home".
As
you can see by the second picture, Oreo was in need of a dentist.
He had a successful dental visit on July 14th at Avian Exotic
Clinic, where they extracted his 4 front teeth! We brought him
home and he effortlessly devoured his salad. He will need no
special care and can lead a normal life. He's finishing a dose
of antibiotics and is ready to be adopted.
This adorable little fella was cruelly dumped in the PetSmart
parking lot in Santa Cruz. A good Samaritan witnessed, reported,
and saved his life. The AFRP cat division in Santa Cruz took him
to to the local vet for treatment and kept him there until the
AFRP rabbit folks picked him up. He is now being spoiled in the
AFRP's care. He appears to be quite young still. He's small in
size but has a huge zest for life. He is scheduled to be
neutered on 7/21/2010, but can be adopted. Magic has no idea what a
traumatic situation this could have resulted in.
Dad,
with Mom and their two cute little babies were delivered from the Bay area June 14th! Mom
(Pixie) was
spayed on 6/15/2010 and was adopted on 6/20/2010. The two babies were
transferred to The Rabbit Haven in Santa Cruz, so Dad is the only one
left.
Dad
bunny, a young bunny himself is lucky to still be with us, thanks to The
Rabbit Haven. Devin (Dad) endured a major surgery due to snake bites.
His wounds were severe but is expected to make a 100% recovery. He
arrived back in our care on July 1, 2010 and is still finishing his last
course of medication. He is in a compassionate foster care home, but is
available for adoption.
My name is Lilly and I am a spayed female, white and black Shorthaired
Rabbit. I am about 2 years and 7 months old. I was taken to the shelter
on Sep 26, 2009. The AFRP volunteers rescued me an I am currently in
foster care and still looking for my forever home. I am still
young enough to do Binkies, but enjoy a long afternoon nap. I
would make a great girlfriend for a single neutered male?
Midnight and
Moonshine have lived together with me since May of 2009. They are 12 and
13 months old, with Moonshine being the older one. They are very much a
bonded pair and are practically inseparable. They love fresh basil,
sweet pepper, cilantro, carrot tops, dill, lettuces and kale from the
farmers market, and they enjoy pieces of apple, berry, carrot, banana,
pear and dried cranberries as treats. They love their willow toys,
jingly toys, stuffed toys to throw around, chewing on cardboard, and
they enjoy having the yellow pages book to tear up as well. They live in
an x-pen enclosure, with free access to the living room and dining room,
which they’ve really enjoyed. They can do well in smaller spaces as
well, as they used to not be roaming bunnies. They coexist with cats
peacefully, as there are 2 in the household at the moment. I have found
they prefer to have their own space, and when visitors bring other
animals, like dogs, to my house the bunnies do not enjoy it. They are
litter box trained, haven't had any health problems, are due for their
once a year check up in May, and are both fixed. They love to be picked
up and cuddled, and even run up to you when you come into the room. They
get fed pellets once a day in the morning, and then get hay (timothy and
meadow grass) and a handful of lettuce/vegetables in the evening.
These two are brother and sister rescued from the Sacramento
SPCA. They arrived at the AFRP on July 12th when they were 8
weeks old. These two must absolutely
stay together!
Butternut is a local rescue from the streets of P.G. She was
found by the PG Police & dropped off at POSH PETS. We took her
to the vet to be spayed on 4/13/2010 only to find she was full
term pregnant. The babies were lost, but she survived and is
100% recuperated. She is now a healthy happy go lucky single
female approx 1-2 years old. She's a gorgeous golden brn/wht
shorthair, approx 5 pounds and ready to find a family willing to
give her free roaming rights! She is very cat and dog friendly
and loves people. She will sit on the couch and watch TV then
jump down and do bunny binkies. She is availible for adoption at
Posh Pets
Hi my name is
Frisbee and I must say
I am spectacular!! My owner felt it was unfair that he couldn't give me
any attention and surrendered me to the Santa Cruz shelter on 8/13/09. I
came in with my sister Kelly and my dad. I am a sweet girl, I love
attention and I'm very playful. I'm just a medium size bunny but I have
a big personality and lots of love to give whoever takes me home. I'm
very curious too and am always poking my head into one place after
another to see what is there. On 12-17 this got me in trouble with
another bunny and my lip got bit! The folks at AFRP rushed me to the
Avian Exotic clinic where I received a "Lip Job" I now have luscious new
lips!
Luckily no major damage was done and I learned my lesson. I'm real neat and clean and love using my
litter box. It keeps my house so much neater and cleaner to be careful
like that. Kinda wanna find that special family the AFRP Bunny people
keep telling me about. They say my future looks bright......I'll wait
until that spark twinkles & know my dream will at last come true. Is it
you I have been waiting for?
AFRP took part in this happy ending story. Now
these beautiful bunnies need their safe, kind hearted forever
homes to live happily ever. Available for adoption or foster.
APRIL 11, 2010
"I went to Oroville today to assess the
situation. It's not good. There are a number of longer haired
rabbits; not full angora but still fluff balls. They are all
under a year old with 5 or 6 babies. There are approx 18 that
are communal living in an outside dilapidated aviary and one
that is not part of the 'family' but still living in another
part of the aviary. Their caregiver is a 78 year old
kind-hearted lady who has done cat and dog rescue for more than
20 years. Last summer she took in 2 rabbits and we all know what
happens after that. She's reaching out for help with these
little guys and wants to do what is best for them"
My finder
calls me Fancy and describes me as a spayed female, I was spayed
5/24/2010. I am a brown and white Rex,
My finder thinks I am about 1 year and 9 months old.. I was found on May
13, 2010.
I am currently staying at the Salinas City Shelter while I wait for
my owner to find me. If I sound like I might be yours, please call the
shelter immediately. Call
(831) 758-7285 or
Tiger is a spayed female Harlequin French Lop mix. She weighs in
at approx 9 pounds. She is about 1-1/2 years old. She is a big
love and adores attention. She is not bothered by cats or dogs. She
is a great TV bunny and will love to cuddle up with you.
KIKI was rescued from the
overcrowded Sacramento SPCA. She is a Holland mini
Lop female and was spayed on 7/18/2010 at Eastlake Vet,
Watsonville. Kiki prefers a quiet loving family who has time
to hold her as she loves attention and quiet surroundings,
not really a great choice for small children. She is
absolutely as sweet & clean as can be & may adore
bonding with a friend bunny since she was recently separated from her
brother (Maxwell). She is approx 3 months old (July
2010) and still learning the thrills of being a house
bunny. She would NOT do well outdoors until she is older
& wiser & supervised!
Barney is a friendly, loving bunny that is potty box trained and
loves toys. He has been deprived lately as he had to live in a
place where they did not have toys or much space. He is
yearning for wide open space to run and binky and for a family
of
his very own to love. He wants lots of love and attention. He is
not bothered by cats
and might enjoy the companionship of a gentle female bunny – He
will enjoy a sweet home with a loving family who can appreciate
his many wonders. Come by to check out this charming fellow. He
is neutered.
Dad,
with Mom and their two cute little babies were delivered from the Bay area June 14th! Mom
(Pixie) was
spayed on 6/15/2010 and was adopted on 6/20/2010. The two babies were
transferred to The Rabbit Haven in Santa Cruz, so Dad is the only one
left.
Princess
Butterfly Biscuit (aka PBB) is a mini lop mixed rabbit. She's a sweet
girl who likes pets. PBB used to live with many other bunnies and got
along great so if you have lonely bunny friend? She came from the
Sacramento SPCA shelter. She is approx 1 yr old, spayed on 4-29-2010 & ready to find
a new home TODAY! We accepted her into our care on May 21st, 2010.
My name is IKO & I have an attitude! Only the
best people are allowed to pet me. I am so gorgeous, I don't
need to be sweet but once I know I can trust you, we will be
BBF's ! I was surrendered to the shelter because my family was
moving away & then slated to be euthanized because of a small
upper respiratory infection (which I am on antibiotics for). I
was so happy to hear the AFRP Rabbit Rescue folks wanted to save
my life! I've heard wonderful things about life in their care &
how they find us
lonely bunnies terrific homes. The bunny
"grapevine" says we get fresh water, plenty of produce, &
endless amounts of hay! Then we get toys, room to binky & LOVE!
I especially want a little security in my new house please ? I
am approx 10 months young & already neutered (June 2010).
This stunning young lop was on the 12 hour
euthanasia list at the Fremont Shelter. Her time was up at 5pm
6/8/10. When AFRP received notice, we grabbed her so fast! The
folks at Harvest Home ran out to get her & helped transport her
down to Monterey where she will be pampered & spoiled until the
right family can't let her go. We only expect the perfect
home. She is not yet spayed
Hannah came to us along with the Martinez Rescue Babies above. She is an
East bay rescue that came from the same people. She is a medium size
brown dwarf – quiet, clean, sweet & holdable. – she is approx 1
yr, owner surrender, already spayed.
Toodles was found as a
stray on 11/16/09. We don't know his age, but seems quite young. He was
just neutered Nov 20, 2009. he is a little skittish which is
understandable since he was found stray. He doesn't have an aggressive
bone in his body. Even before he was neutered, he didn't seem to be very
territorial or problematic.
AFRP rescued
this cute litl' fella from death row due to limited space at the Santa
Cruz Shelter. We have already seen a difference now that he is in a safe
warm space. He needs a person to hold him & whisper in his cute ear that
he will forever be protected & loved. Once he trusts you, he will become
the sweet boy he longs (& deserves) to be!!!
Disco is a
beautiful white/brown Rex with velvet soft fur. She is a cute
Spunky Female who is all
set to dance her way into your heart! She loves to play and throw her
toys around. Shadow her friend is a beautiful grey spayed girl. These
two mellow and sweet pals are just looking to hop into your heart and
home. Shadow is very outgoing and loves pets and attention. Disco is
also an exceptionally sweet girl as well. Both with snuggle up to cats,
dogs, and humans and both are litter box trained.
They enjoy veggies, toys and exploring their world. Disco came to us
from the Salinas Animal Shelter and Shadow came from the Monterey County
Animal Shelter. Won't you make a space for these two precious girls in
your life? They are waiting at Posh Pets in Pacific Grove to meet you.
Popeye is
an amazing happy boy bunny. He is referred to as a Himalayan, with
beautiful ruby eyes which are quite fascinating . He is funny to watch because he
is constantly moving his head side to side absorbing his surroundings.
All ruby eyed rabbits are sensitive to sunlight and should be protected.
POPEYE LOVES PEOPLE! He does not want to be alone. He wants to be held,
he wants to be on your lap, he wants to be at your feet. He is friendly as can be and would make a terrific pet house
rabbit as long as someone is home to give him the attention he craves..
Mittens is a sweet bunny girl who was returned
to us due to her owners financial hardship. I am slightly confused as to why
they surrendered me? I only want my family back or a family that will
appreciate me more. She was born in our care a day after
her mom was rescued from the Salinas Shelter. She is a little over a year
old spayed and litter box trained. This wonderful girl is looking for a
family to give her a happy and fun home to run around in. I am used to
children and I like people, I just don't like to be held. She is currently
in foster care.
Romeo, as
his name implies is a bunny full of love. He came from the Salinas
shelter, is approx 6-months old. He is a dwarf mix. He has sparkling
ruby eyes that twinkle when he receives head massages. He needs to be in
a save warm quiet home, but is already a people loving bunny. He prefers
to sleep on your pillow rather than in a cage. So be prepared to pamper
this young lover. He was neutered on 5-14-2010.
EMMA
is another lucky recent Salinas Shelter rescue. She is an itty bitty
love bunny, snuggles & cuddles, explores & naps quietly in her pen.
Super clean, too sweet for words, she needs a person to spoil her. How
she ended up in the shelter is beyond our imagination, but we are lucky
to be able to help her find her forever home. Little Emma prefers to not
be around cats, Dogs, or small Children. Emma was spayed on May 3, 2010.
Little dwarfs go quickly so if she sounds like your kind of bunny, call
ASAP!
Captain Jack is our new shelter rescue who is an amazing sweetie Pie. He
was found in a field as a stray. The shelter staff estimates his age
approx 3yrs. He is scheduled to be neutered this month. He wants to be
held & close to people. Super easy going, calm and just waiting for a
person to connect w/him. Captain Jack is currently in temporary foster
care & can be met by contacting Lisa anytime. Extremely holdable &
loving!
I am a
delightful adorable "Sugerpie in the Sky" Sweetie who escaped certain
death at the Santa Cruz shelter thanks to the awesome AFRP Rabbit Rescue
volunteers! I was instantly adopted at PetSmart when I was quite young
where they bonded me with a pretty little girlfriend. After I was spayed
my instincts changed my bonded relationship my owners felt it best they
exchange me. So here I am hoping to find a new home and a neutered
boyfriend if possible. I am very gentle and great with kids (my old
owner had 4 kids) I don't mind cats or a well behaved dog. I was spayed
on Sept 29, 2009 when I was 7 months old.
This is
a sweet little girl w/dainty teeny tiny legs, she is a very lucky lady!
We received a call from a distraught woman claiming when she arrived
home, a cage w/a bunny was sitting in her driveway! She had the sense to
call for help, and now lucky lady TINKY TOES is as safe as can be. On
April 6, 2010 she was spayed, only to discover she was pregnant. She is
recuperating nicely in a quiet foster home but needs a permanent family
who will adore her forever! She may even like a bunny friend to snuggle
beside & ensure her past is over & great days lay ahead. Very clean ,
well behaved, she's a perfect little HOUSE rabbit & deserves pampering.
Plenty of cuddles & kisses required!
Ping is the largest
and dumbest of all the New Mexico
group. (almost double the size). She has a large head and a small
butt - You gotta love her!
Ping is a very quite shy girl at first because of the traumatic
situation she was rescued from. Once she is comfortable she becomes a
whole new bunny! She is about 8 months old and was spayed on 9-29-09.
These two girls would prefer to go as a pair. Ping would not be a great solo bunny
as she
needs another bunny to show her how to be a bunny.
June bug AKA "The Binkie Bunny" is a blk/gray/wht ticked shorthaired
girl who is spayed and ready to kick her feet up somewhere permanently.
She was from a litter of 7 rescued from the Salinas shelter and is
hoping we can find her a super fun family to bond with. She was turned 1
years old on May 25, 2009 and is full of energy. SUPER neat and tidy and
comes with plenty of attitude! Her attitude got her in trouble with
another bunny and her nose got bit and torn. She had to be rushed to the
vet where she was given cosmetic surgery. Luckily no major damage, jus
some cosmetic repair and is 100% recuperated.
Gracie is a
stunning Chinchilla gray rabbit found hopping at large in Salinas. She is
slightly confused, she wants to be a Lop but one ear keeps popping back up.
When she is happy and calm both ears stay down. She is an independent
bunny who prefers not to be held, but likes to hang out where the people are
on her own terms. If you understand bunnies this is not unusual. Gracie is
quite independent and in our opinion not a great choice for a family
with small children, She would live happily with cats or a well behaved dog.
She may do well with a bunny friend if you have a lonely bunny and are
looking for a bonded mate. As of Jan 10th she is approximately 1 and a half
to 2 years old.
Hi, my name is Ben. I’m kind of a famous guy who has ended up in a bad
spot. My owner surrendered me and my partner to the shelter and now I’m
looking for a new home. I’m very handsome, neutered, and very friendly.
I have buddy that I’m pretty tight with and would certainly hate to
loose him. His name is Jerry, another famous guy. We of course
came in together. So we’d like to go out together. It is pretty tough
losing a home, but having Jerry makes it easier, at least we are
together. We are making an adjustment and like the time with the
volunteers. My Buddy Jerry is pretty young so I’m sort of teaching him
the way of the world. We are both very friendly and like attention.
Jerry is not altered yet because he is too young, but I am so everything
is cool. His ears are a little crazy, but I think it gives him an
endearing look. Ya think we might be able to shack up w/you ???
This beautiful sweet lop was a surrender from a family who could not
afford to feed her. She was rushed to the Avian Clinic on deaths
doorstep. She was literally starving to death! The Drs. took care of her
& later we were lucky enough to take her into our care to provide all
the luxuries a bunny could want! She is fully recouped & soon to be
spayed so she can live a long full bellied life! If you can provide her needs, she
is available for adoption or fostering. She was bought from a Carmel
breeder and is approx 1 year old. She is sweet as ever!
Lovely,
Lonely. Rough, & Tough. Rudy is a neutered young male who needs a
special home, special person who can coax him out of the protective
walls he has developed.
Rudy is
desperate for love and attention and simply crumbles when he gets deluxe
eye/cheek massages! He just desperately craves love! You see it in his
eyes. He melts when he gets them! He just needs someone willing to help
him put down his guard and get through the walls he has put up!
He would
love to be a free roaming house/garden bunny. He has the energy, but no
room in our care. AFRP Rabbit Rescue has been caring for Rudy for approx
3-4 months but we are currently full and space is limited. It breaks our
hearts to keep him in a limited space. We plea with anyone who may have
a larger area Rudy could reside in, more important, someone who wants to
experience the difference of what Rudy can become with your love.
Pic*a*Dilly and her two babies
Peanut & Popcorn! They are 10 weeks old Jan 15th, 2010! Popcorn & Peanut are now available to “foster to adopt”
until spay/neuters in 3 mos.
Reserve them now!
UPDATE: Pic*a*Dilly
was Adopted by a wonderful home and her baby Boy Popcorn was
adopted Jan 16th! UPDATE: Peanut was
adopted Jan 24th!
She is a
wonderful mother and her kids are great! Loves to chase cats. She loves
to be held and would be a great new member of your family.
She is an
incredibly beautiful black and white Dutch. Penelope was surrendered to the AFRP
Rabbit Rescue Program and came into our
care on Thanksgiving day Nov 27th, 2009. She is approximately 1-1/2
years old and was spayed on Dec 10th, 2009. The Vet found her to have a
large tumor in her uterus=she was saved just in the nick of time! We
kept her in a special needs foster home to make sure she had a 100%
recovery. She is now the happiest rabbit ever! She is sweet, quite,
clean, hold able, and huggable. She prefers a calm family, although she
is accustomed to dogs, cats and
children. She is extremely soft and sheds very little. She is perfectly potty trained and sweet as apple pie.
We would like to get her straight into a home as soon as possible.
AFRP
Rabbit rescue program was contacted by a family who had recently
purchased two Netherland Dwarfs rabbits at a local feed store. They were
told they were two females. Much to their surprise a few weeks later
they were quite upset when they found four newborns in the cage.
Luckily they reached out to us and we have found a home for one and now
there are three available. (ONLY ONE LEFT!)They were 8 Weeks old Jan 23rd.
They are not yet spayed or neutered but are available
for "Foster to Adopt" (The adoption will not will be final until the
spay or neuter is complete).
He’s a neutered, micro chipped sweet boy from the Santa
Cruz shelter who needs to learn his potty box litter habits better, but
is making great progress. Loves people and attention. Longs for love!
Arriving in AFRP Rabbit Program Fri Feb 5th if you would
like to meet him!
(adopted
2/5/2010)
ANTONIO
I am the cutest boy ever! I come from the Dublin breeder
who lost interest & basically abandoned a whole group of us, leaving us
not even the minimal of water, hay or pellets, no less fresh produce or
attention. Luckily a rabbit rescue group saved us & scattered us among
many other groups. I lucked out by moving to Monterey!! Now I need one
more miracle, a FAMILY to worship my bunny behaviors !! I was neutered
in late Oct 2009
(adopted)
SHARKY
Sharky is named for his soft gray (shark)
colored fur. He is possibly a lionhead mix as he has some long hairs around
his head. He is litterbox trained and neutered. He is a younger bunny and we
don't think he is going to get too big. He loves to hop around, play and
explore. He enjoys his veggies and pets. He is currently stretching his legs
in a foster home so call and ask for Kelly or Julie at Posh Pets in Pacific
Grove.
(adopted)
BO JANGLES
I am a neutered male, white and gray Shorthair. My age
is ??? I have been at the Salinas shelter since Aug 26, 2009. Thanks to
the AFRP Rabbit Rescue Project, I am now hoping to find a new forever
home to hang out at or at least a foster home PLEASE ???
Hershey is just like his name sweet as good
chocolate. Hershey is a neutered boy bunny and came to us from Santa Cruz.
He has the most beautiful fur with the dark chocalate brown and the milk
chocolate edging. Hershey is litter box trained, enjoys toys, hopping around
and pets. Hershey is waiting for you to come and visit him at Posh Pets in
Pacific Grove.
(adopted)
COSMO
Cosmo is one lucky bunny - he came to use from a
horrible situation in New Mexico where there were 335 bunnies at one house. Cosmo
and his friends became very stressed during there transport on the way to
another rescue and AFRP stepped in to shorten their journey. Cosmo is an
adorable little lop who is about 5 months old. He was neutered
on Sept 9th, 2009. This little guy is a bundle of curious fun
energy and his entertainment value is priceless. He is the first one to
charge out of his pen, race out into the hall and binky about. This guy is
always rearing to go. He has perfect litterbox habits. If you are interested in meeting Cosmo contact Lisa at 883-1734 to
set up a time to meet this little wonderbunny.

ACORN
Brand new
Bunny! Needs to be Spayed,
I am Acorn, I was fostered around Easter time. My
foster mom was going to take me back until she was told that I was
going to be fed to a big snake! So, So she decided to keep me even
though she didn't have any spare time or much space in her house.
Whew, I avoided that one! She did the best she could. She found out
she is pregnant and can't keep me anymore. I was spayed on 11/10/09,
and
can be adopted. I am approx 10 months old and weigh 4-5 pounds
(Medium Sized). I lived w/a dog & day care kids.
(adopted)
BUGZY
Budzy's owner is very allergic & contacted AFRP Rabbit Rescue to
help
find this adorable boy a new home. He was neutered on Oct 2nd, 2009. He
is only
6 mos young &
is a sweet spoiled friendly floppy eared fella. He comes with his
own
"gear" including a run, toys etc. He's hoping for a perfect family
to care for
his little needs.
He LOVES
dogs & tolerates cats.
(adopted)
DEAN
Dean is an exception to our rescue project. We saved him from an
outdoor cage situation where his life was cold & lonely. He
appeared frightened,
miserable. His nails had not ever been trimmed & he kept catching
them on
a wire bottom cage. Old dirty water & no hay at all, one of our
volunteers
scooped him into her arms & held him close to her heart. He
needs to be
neutered (we will arrange) if you have the heart & home to save
this hairy
litl' guy from fear. He is angora & needs daily combings.
(adopted)
SIR FARLEY
GRANNY
We
originally thought GRANNY was a little old lady, ends up she isn't
at all! She was examined by our vets at Avian & Exotic Clinic & was
found to
be approx 4 years young & is quite a bundle of spunkiness! She LOVES human
attention & would benefit being bonded w/ a neutered boy to protect &
lead her.
She is totally blind in one eye & partially blind in the other. She
also is
slightly death, partially due to her lop ears. She was
spayed on Oct 2, 2009,
and is currently in foster care. She is a petite Mini Lop, all
beautiful
black, silky & soft. If you're looking for a lap bunny, she is your
best
choice.

SYDNEY
I just arrived in beautiful Monterey from the New Mexico heat & gotta
say, I'm Lovin' it!
I have these long ears & black fur & this fog is awesome! I am quite a

CASPER,
Shelter ID# A054097
I am a
magnificent large glowing white New Zealand bunny who was dumped at the
Salinas Shelter. My glorious ruby eyes can't speak my story, but if you
look deeply, you'll see the heartache I've endured. I still have this
incredible hope some compassionate human will reach out to me, touch me,
hold me, keep me forever. I didn't ask to be in this situation. Please
consider me, I will be forever grateful!! the shelter thinks I am about
1 1/2 yrs old. I have been at the shelter since 10/29/09. I was spayed
11/2009.

Ding*a*Ling
My finder
calls me Dingaling and describes me as a neutered male, white and brown
Shorthaired Rabbit My finder thinks I am about 6 months old. I was found
on Nov 19, 2009. I am currently staying at the home of a private citizen
while I wait for my owner to find me. If I sound like I might be yours,
please call the shelter immediately. This information is less than 1
hour old.
This little fur ball of a beauty is a prissy Pre-Madonna!
She is a victim of foreclosure & was slated to be euthanized at the
Santa Cruz shelter. So here she is, in all her glory, being catered to
in the AFRP Rabbit Rescue Project. She is now slightly spoiled & would
prefer to continue down this path. She was spayed 11-11-09. She was born
on May 6th, 2006.
Likes: to be independent, to be rubbed gently between the
ears and on her forehead. , doesn't mind being held, does well with
birds & children, all veggies - especially apples, grapes, carrots and
broccoli, to play with blankets and boxes "get away" places that are
cool and quiet (behind the couch, in a box, her hutch), to have a run
in the mornings and evenings, to be fed greens twice a day, in the am &
pm, the collard green mix from trader Joe's, timothy hay & lots of it !
She's very playful & enjoys toys, especially chew balls, to relax by the
fire!
Roadrunner
was saved by a driver who saw 2 bunnies sitting in the roads' center divide
in Carmel Valley on Oct 14th, 2009. She was able to catch this one luckily.
We decided to name him ROADRUNNER! AFRP Rabbit rescue took him to Avian
Clinic where he checked out in excellent health. He needs a safe home where
he can regain his faith in humans. He was a pet at one time........Poor guy!
Roadrunner seems to want to explore, have some free time to romp & recieve
some delux eye/head massages. He was neutered 11/3/09. He is available for FOSTER or ADOPTION today!
This sweet tiny bunny was dropped off at the Shelter all
alone! She looked so scared & a tad underweight so we, the AFRP Rabbit
Rescue, scooped her up & carried her out (in my purse!). She has since
recovered from her past & is a litl' hot shot around the house -
completely fearless & full of pep! We believe she's a dwarf breed,
female not yet spayed. Approx 8 wks old ? She perks up whenever someone
approaches her pen & loves playing w/other bunnies & cats. She is
available for FOSTER to ADOPT until she is spayed. LOVES people!
She is currently in foster care, CALL 831 883-1734 to
meet her ! (8 wks on 12/23/09)
Aren't I LOVERLY ??
I am Apprx 8 to 12 Months old. I have these amazing crystal blue eyes &
this breezy white fur that blows in the wind. I became an AFRP Rescue on
Oct 17th 2009. I came from the Manteca shelter and was actually
confiscated from a home in the Central Valley. There were dogs, cats,
rabbits, rats and guinea pigs taken from a woman for neglect. Thanks to
a few rescue groups, I am cleaned up, spayed & ready to be loved! Also
available for fostering.
LUNA is a very nice little house bunny. She likes having
some space to move around in (is very happy being free-range). She is
frisky and loves to roam all the rooms in the house! She is quite
fearless & adorable & small! She is awesomely cuddly once you get hold of her. She's plump
and very soft, with cute little floppy ears that flap behind
her when she runs. LUNA was spayed in Nov. 2009, rescued from a Concord
Calif. Breeder who lost interest & left them uncared for.
Gwenivere is
one very lucky
rescue bunny. She
was caught climbing
up a tree by a
volunteer who was
trying to save her
from horrendous
circumstances. She
was constantly being
"raped" by wild
rabbits enclosed in
an outdoor aviary.
She endured major
trauma but was saved
and we couldn't help
but take her home
and give her love
and a safe place to
call home.
It has taken
approximately one
year for her to
completely trust us
and has since become
an awesome part of
the family. And boy
is she spoiled
(she
earned this right)
She is the
easiest bunny ever,
loves to sleep on
our bed with the
cats and roam free
in the garden during
the day. She potty
trained herself and
is so happy to be in
a home where no one
is out to get her.
I just want
everyone to know
that abused, rescued
rabbits do make
AWESOME friendly
pets. It just takes
time, patience, and
unconditional LOVE.
Gwennie would
like to thank the
Rabbit Haven for
their relentless
devotion to the
rescue!

Moo Bunny
On a dark lonely night, two Young men were driving along
Aguajito road in Monterey California. As they drove down
the winding road they noticed in the other lane what
appeared to be a white rabbit! Talking amongst themselves
they determined that surely this could not be a wild rabbit
as no wild rabbit would look so sparkly white! The Young
men pulled their car to the side of the road and went for a
closer look.
It was indeed a white rabbit! Clearly a domesticated breed
and thoroughly unfit to survive in the wild, the young men
wondered to themselves how the bunny came to be alone, at
night, on the side of a road. On closer inspection they
noticed that the bunny had lovely black markings on its body
with midnight black ears. It would also appear that the
bunny was unaware of the danger of its surroundings as it
was now looking at a grass embankment totally perplexed at
the wall of grass that stood before it.
They young men approached the bunny cautiously so as not to
startle it. The white rabbit was apparently used to humans
as it did not run away and allowed the young men to pick it
up. Once lifted off the ground the bunny became frightened
and began to struggle. Holding the bunny firmly so as to
support its body the young men hurried off to the car to
discuss this situation that had resulted in the acquisition
of a wet footed white rabbit.
The young men having kind hearts took the bunny home to
their apartment and offered the bunny carrots and water.
The white rabbit was nervous after the car ride and showed
no interest in food. Spending a sleepless night on the
floor of the bathroom the bunny finally decided that it was
interested in the carrots. Shortly after finishing the
carrots the young men decided to take the bunny to a local
Veterinary office that specialized in exotic species. Being
intelligent young men they understood that a Rabbit could
not go to just any vet.
Avian and Exotic Clinic of the Monterey Peninsula kindly
looked the bunny over and declared him healthy, however they
did not recognize the bunny nor did they have any idea of
who it belonged to. They also said that they were unable to
keep the bunny as they had very little space. The young men
took the white rabbit home determined more than ever to find
a safe home for the bunny. While the young men were at the
Clinic they learned of an Open House Event at the Clinic
that would be happening the next day. They decided to
attend the Open House and see what they could learn about
Bunnies.
The next day at the Open House the young men
came across a Non Profit Animal Rescue Group that saved more
than just cats and dogs, they also saved bunnies! The AFRP
(Animal Friends Rescue Project) was delighted to hear about
the young men saving the white rabbit. The young men
confessed that they did not know much about rabbits or their
care and were concerned about keeping the bunny. They did
not want to have to take it to the Humane Society for fear
of the bunny being euthanized. A woman (read sucker!) was
listening to the young men discuss their found bunny with
the AFRP staff and was moved by the story. Having two
bunnies of her own whom she loved dearly, she felt she could
not keep silent!
“I will take good care of him” she nervously
proclaimed. The young men were relieved now that the woman
seemed to know about bunnies and had some of her own. After
a brief discussion between the two young men, they decided
that indeed she should take the white rabbit. So the young
men called a friend who was at home with the white rabbit
and asked that they please bring the white rabbit to the
open house, that they had found a “bunny lady” who would
know how to help the white rabbit.
White Rabbit arrived at the Open House and
promptly was delivered to the young woman. She held him
close and petted his head and told the white rabbit not to
worry that she would make sure he was well taken care of.
The woman took white rabbit home and set up
for him a large play area with sheets and fleece blankets.
Two litter boxes were filled with yummy smelling fresh hay.
She gave the white rabbit fresh greens, a slice of banana
and a small piece of watermelon. White rabbit was
delighted. He danced little circles honking and oinking,
then promptly dug at and rearranged the fleece blanket to
take a long nap.
When white rabbit woke from his nap the
woman had made him a sea grass hut for him to hide and play
in. There were apple twigs, baskets and even a stuffed toy
bunny for white rabbit to snuggle! The young woman spoke
nice words and kissed his head. “You have the markings of a
dairy cow, I think I will call you Moo” He was truly a happy
little bun now! “I will find you the best home ever Moo!”
The young woman took Moo to several adoption events until
the perfect home was found for him. Moo moved into his new
home a few short weeks later. His new home spoiled him even
more than the foster home did much to his delight.
Moo is now a husbunn to lovely young girl by
the name of Gizmo. Both live in a forever home full of
love, affection, hay and greens!
